Friendsgiving 5K

Join us December 15, 2018 at Chattahoochee Point Park to raise money and awareness for No Kid Hungry!

Hi, my name is Ann Marie Coan and 28 years ago I started hosting an annual event, “Friendsgiving”, to raise money for various charities.   In 2013 I focused all my fundraising efforts to fight childhood hunger.   In 2015 I convinced Renata Hadula and Urvi Patel to help and in 2016 we brought Mike and Jenny Ronquillo on board.  The “Friendsgiving” family is growing as is our enthusiasm.   This year we wanted to do something very special for hungry kids in need and are setting out to recruit 200 friends in the greater Atlanta area to run a 5K race or 1M fun run. All proceeds will benefit No Kid Hungry.

Create a team, join a team or do your own thing.   If you don’t live in the area sign up to run our virtual race.  You can do it anytime, anyplace that weekend and you will get your t-shirt and participation medal!  For those of you participating in Suwanee, we are going to be serving lunch after the race. It’s free for all participants and volunteers.  We want to make this Friendsgiving event to be fun for all and we want to stomp out childhood hunger one energetic step at a time!

WHAT DOES “GOING HUNGRY” MEAN, EXACTLY?

In the United States today, facing hunger can mean different things. Maybe there's no food in the house and no money to buy any. Maybe there’s food, but not enough to last through the end of the month, so parents skip meals, or kids get smaller portions than they need.

Whatever their situation, kids who don’t have reliable access to three healthy meals a day are much more likely to face unhealthy, unsuccessful, uncertain futures.

That’s just not acceptable.  We can solve this problem and solving it would provide the greatest return on investment.

When you become part of No Kid Hungry you're joining a movement of teachers, chefs, community leaders, parents, lawmakers and CEO's with a shared belief: no kid in American should go hungry.

Through race registration and runner sponsorship we have set a goal of $15,000 for this event.  Every $1.00 you raise, No Kid Hungry will leverage to connect 10 children with a nutritious meal.   $15,000 can feed 150,000 children.  To help us reach this goal, we encourage participants to set up their personal running page and reach out to their family and friends to sponsor them.   All participants who raise $100 by the end of December will get free registration for next year’s events.  If you raise $250 you will also get a special 2018 Friendsgiving 5K  hoodie.  In addition, we will have prizes for the top individual and team fundraisers.

Remember every $1.00 you raise will connect 10 children with a nutritious meal.
