Description

Can you outrun the infected...or do you prefer to chase the living?

Run for Humanity is a thrilling post-apocalyptic 5km or 10km trail course for all athletic levels.

A zombie outbreak has infected the world!  A quarantine site has been set up at Champoeg State Park in rural Oregon, a safe haven where survivors from all over have congregated to share resources and wait out the imposing disaster.  As the survivors settle in and begin to plan, there is a commotion.  An unsettling feeling, growing murmurs, panic...screams.  There has been a breach.  The zombies are here.  There is nothing to do but RUN!

Register as Humans, Zombies, or Placed Zombies. Humans are given three belt flags aka "lives".  Zombies are trying to snatch your flags.  Humans get an advanced start on running zombies but will encounter “placed” zombies who will be coming out of hiding at various spots along the course! Humans strive to keep at least one flag at the finish line.

*Human runners: You will have the choice to have flags or not.  Children under 14 years of age will not be allowed to have flags to ensure their safety.  If you do choose to have flags, if all of your flags have been taken, you are NOT automatically transformed into a zombie and you may NOT take another runner’s flags, chase other runners, or pick up flags off the ground.

Survivor with the best times win Ultimate Survivor title and prizes. Zombies are vying to grab as many flags as possible in quest to be named Master of the Zombies and snatch up the top prize.  Prizes awarded for best individual and team costumes as well.Medals for the first 200 participants.  Survival skills demonstrations by Banat Wilderness and Urban Survival including emergency shelter building. Each registered participant over 21 gets one free beer courtesy of Seven Brides Brewing. Live music form Deadwood Standing available after the race.  Zombie make-up available by Beth Lau before the race.

All proceeds benefit North Willamette Valley Habitat for Humanity which builds safe, decent and affordable housing for low-income families.  Who is ready to Run for Humanity?

Packet pick-up and race day registration begins at 7 a.m. at race location.  Survival skills training and make-up services will be offered from 7 a.m. until the start of the race.  Families are welcome and encourage to come and partake in the fun!

Due to the nature of this race, please leave pets and fury babies at home.  Otherwise they may end up as zombie snacks.

Champoeg State Park charges a parking fee of $5 per car so we encourage you to carpool.  If you have a valid Oregon State Parks Pass, there is no charge for parking.  Make sure your pass is visible.

T-shirts sales are limited.  Medals will be given out to the first 200 racers who cross the finish line, divided between 5K and 10K races.
