Description
Join us Sunday, October 15th for our 3rd Annual Beaver Dash 5k Run / Walk benefitting Special Olympics Rhode Island!
Bring the whole family for a day full of fun! The race will begin at the Smithfield Municipal Ice Rink + end at the Thirsty Beaver Hometown Pub & Grub where our post-race party will be held.
Festivities will feature a Thirsty Beaver buffet for all participants, award ceremony, live DJ, raffles, games, beer + much more!
Buffet tickets will be available to purchase for all non-participants. Light breakfast refreshments will be provided at race day check-in.
Walkers + baby strollers welcome!

AFTER-PARTY: The party starts when the race finishes at The Thirsty Beaver!

When the 5k ends, the party is just getting started! Festivities will include live entertainment, award ceremony, raffles, games + more!
BEAVER BUFFET
Because there's no better way to conclude a 5k! Enjoy a full Thirsty Beaver buffet as well as other local food vendors! Food fee included in athlete registration - buffet tickets will be on sale for all spectators.
. *Please provide any allergies / dietary restrictions at registration so we can accommodate accordingly.

DRINKS
Runners (21+) will receive FREE alcohol samples by local vendors at our post-race party.
*BRING YOUR ID to packet pick-up if you plan on enjoying an ice cold post-race beer.

**Pre-registered minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent / guardian. The parent / guardian must sign a waiver on behalf of the minor at packet pickup.

Parking will be available across the street from the Ice Rink at Vincent J. Gallagher Middle School - 10 Indian Run Trail, Smithfield, RI 02917 as well as a secondary lot at Anna M. McCabe School - 100 Pleasant View Ave. Smithfield, RI 02917

*While both the start + finish of the race are in walking distance of the designated parking areas, race day shuttles will we available for anyone who needs them.
RESTROOMS
Restrooms will be available inside the Smithfield Ice Rink at the registration area / race start.
Restrooms will be located inside The Thirsty Beaver at the finish area.
REFUNDS
Please understand we will not be able to issue refunds for ANY reason. Please ensure you will be able to attend on Sunday, October 15, 2023 prior to registration. If for some reason you must withdraw, your packet will still be available to retrieve at all pickup opportunities.

When & where can I pick up my packet?
Saturday, Oct. 14th: 12pm-2pm @ The Thirsty Beaver Smithfield
Sunday, Oct. 15th: 7:00am-9:00am @ the Smithfield Municipal Ice Rink
Can my friend pickup my packet for me?
Yes – please come prepared with the registration number or confirmation email of the individual you are picking up for. If you find yourself in need of resending the registration confirmation email, simply:
Go to runsignup.com, type in your login information
On your “Profile” page, located our event in your upcoming races & simply click “Resend Confirmation Email”
What time does race day check-in open?

Will the race be timed?
Yes – all walkers & runners will be chip timed. Race results will be available immediately upon finishing.

Will there be awards for winners?
Yes we have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for all age groups, male and female. We will also have an award for Team Spirit, Team participation, and Fastest Team as well as six Outstanding Effort awards.
Will there be race photography?
Yes will have photographers on the course and at the post race party.

Will there be gear check?
No gear check – please plan accordingly.
For this reason, those who do not attend the Saturday packet pickup will receive their bib number & t-shirt at race day check-in. These individuals will receive their swag bags at our post-race party.
Can I get a refund or transfer my entry to another person?
No refunds and no transferring entry registration to another person.
What is the policy for bad weather?
Race will only be cancelled for lightening.

TEAM COMPETITION & AWARDS:
Once last person finishes, a report will be printed of all results and they will be announced according to the awards given out.

How are individual awards handled?
Awards will be offered for:
- Overall Male & Female
- Age Group Awards for 1st, 2nd & 3rd (Male & Female)
Additionally, we will also be giving out six “Outstanding Effort” awards to those individuals that go above & beyond in some way or another on race day!
What are the team award categories?
The Team Competition categories are as follows:
- FASTEST TEAM: fastest combined time of a team’s top three finishers; FASTEST TEAM TIME WINS!
- TEAM PARTICIPATION AWARD: Team with the most members who participate in the race
- TEAM SPIRIT AWARD: ONE team that demonstrates the most TEAM SPIRIT (can included spectators & volunteers)
Can I wear headphones during the race?
Yes – but please be careful! Make sure that you are able to hear all course & safety instructions from volunteers & police officers.
Will there be road closures?
The opposite lane of travel will be open for the duration of the race while the lane of travel will be closed off for all participants.

When does registration close?
Online registration closes Saturday, October 14th, but will be available in person on packet pickup day and race day.
Can I register in-person on race day?
Yes - registration will take place on race day.
I selected the wrong t-shirt size; how can I fix that?
Please email our team at fallon@digindining.com to request a size change!
Will you be accepting credit cards for in-person registration?
Yes credit cards will be accepted for in-person registration.
How do I join a team?
First start the registration process. You will find the team option on the third page of registration after you have selected your category and told us who you are. The team option has a drop down menu where you can search for your team name. Once you have selected your team and submit your registration, you are now part of that team!
How can I edit my team if I’m not a Team Captain?
Only Team Captains can edit their team.
How do I update my Team Captain?
If you need to change the Team Captain please reach out to fallon@digindining.com
Am I required to be part of a team to participate in the 5k?
No, you do not have to join a team to complete registration.
Can I register more than one person on my registration account?
Yes! You can register as many people as you want under your account. You can do so by selecting ‘register another person’ option on the last page of registration, or you can start a new registration and enter your email as the account holder.

Can I walk this race?
Yes! We accept both walkers and runners for this race.
Can kids participate in the 5k race?
Yes kids of all ages are allowed to participate in the race.
Are strollers allowed during the race?
Strollers or baby joggers are allowed on the course, but please be aware that all individuals running/walking the course with a stroller will are kindly asked to start behind all runners towards the back of the starting line.
Are dogs allowed during the race?
Unfortunately there will be no dogs allowed on the race course. With the exception of any registered service animals. Well-behaved dogs on-leash are happily welcome to attend registration, watch the race & at the post-race party at Thirsty Beaver.
Can I bring my family to watch?
Yes! Family and friends are available to join in on the fun and watch from the sidewalks.
Can my family attend the post-race party?
Yes! Friends and family are welcome for the post-race party. If friends and family would like to participate in post-race buffet, it will be $15 for kids and $20 for adults.
PRE-PAID BUFFET TICKETS: Kids $13 & Adults $18 (buy online until Saturday @ 11:59pm)
If I want to run the 5k with my child do I have to pay?
Yes – all participants, regardless of age must be registered for the race to participate. Youth participants ages 12 and younger will receive a $10 off discount from standard adult registration pricing.
Do I get a t-shirt?
Yes, registered participants receive a t-shirt!
When do I get my swag bag?
Swag bags can be picked up at our Monday, October 16th pack pickup opportunity & AFTER the race on Sunday at our post-race party.
