Description

Race Day is (still) Sacred

In reflecting on the things we’ll miss the most this fall, it’s clear that collegiate racing and the joys of cheering on our favorite teams was close to the top of the list. So, together with our friends at Trials or Miles, we’ve devised a racing challenge that will bring out that old school competitive spirit: the Alumni Championships.

Whether you ran in college or not, whether you’re in fighting shape or fighting to get back into it, join your fellow alumni for a 2 mile race and ultimate bragging rights. With no collegiate championships until March, this is likely as close as we’ll get to crowning a 2020 champ.

The Alumni Championship is open to individuals around the world, whether or not you ran competitively as a student. Even if you didn’t go to college, we invite you to sign up and race for the team of your choice. There will be prizes for individuals and teams in both open and masters categories. The teams race will be scored cross country style, with the first 5 runners from each alumni team scoring.  There will also a prize for the biggest alumni team.

Saving Track

Please also note that all profits from the race will go towards a fund supporting college track and field programs that have recently been cut and are trying to get reinstated.  We have contracted a campaign manager, Russell Dinkins, to provide leadership and guidance to recently cut programs. Dinkins, along with several others, was instrumental in helping Brown University Men's Track and Field gain reinstatement recently. His experience and knowledge acquired from the Brown University campaign is crucial in helping coordinate campaign efforts for other recently cut men's track programs—Minnesota and William and Mary.

And, there will no doubt be more programs at risk of being cut. Our aim is to raise enough money to continue supporting Russell Dinkins in his efforts to save other college track and field programs in the future.
