Information

The West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners held its’ first organizational meeting and adopted bylaws on January 4, 2003 in Helvetia, WV. On that date there were nineteen Charter Members. Many were old running friends, while others were new acquaintances. The seed for the WVMTR actually began to form in 1999, but took a few years to take root and begin to grow. West Virginia roots are far reaching. Our members are from across the Mountain State as well as surrounding states.

The club has grown steadily and by years end 2008 had a membership of near 200. As of 2015 that number is now just north of 350. To better meet our goals, the WVMTR Bylaws were amended in 2005 and again in 2009.

The goal of the WVMTR is to encourage running and the healthy, positive qualities running encompasses. We do this by holding races, non-competitive club runs, social events, assisting other organizations with running events, and in general just running around having fun. We are a non-profit organization and are affiliated with the Road Runners Club of America.

Your membership and running company is welcome.
