Transfer to Another Event

On certain races, the race director may give runners the ability to transfer to another event. If this option is available to you, then this section will walk you through the process.

IMPORTANT: Not all races allow for user initiated transfers. If you don’t have this option, please contact the race directly to learn more about their specific transfer policy.

How to Transfer to Another Event

Keep in mind, if you do not see the following features available from your profile, then the race does not have this feature enabled, and you will need to contact them directly to request this edit. They can be reached by going to your My Registered Races Page, then clicking the Contact Race button next to this race.

Some races offer runners the option to change their event within a race. This might mean changing from one distance to another, or from one wave or another depending on how this race has been setup.

If the race does have this feature enabled, then you can find it by following these steps:

  1. Sign In to RunSignUp
  2. Go to your Profile
  3. Click My Registered Races
  4. Click Manage Registration next to the registration that you would like to transfer your event for
  5. Click the Transfer Event menu item
  6. Click the Start Transfer button
  7. Select your new Event from the Event Drop-Down
  8. Agree to the Waiver and click Continue

Why is my registration not showing in my profile? +


Don't worry! Most of the time you are registered, but your registration is just associated with a different account.
Your registration is associated with a sub-account of another user
Someone registered you for a race using their account, so you were created as a sub-account. See here to learn how to transfer the registration to your existing account.
Your registration was imported
A lot of races will process entries manually. You just need to claim your uploaded account as described here
You used a different email address to register
You can merge accounts with different email addresses by following the guide here
You did not complete your registration
First look to see if you are registered on this race's "Find a Participant" page. If you still do not see yourself and have a charge on your credit card that has posted, please contact info@runsignup.com. If you do not see yourself here, and you also have no charge on your account, then you are not yet registered.
You registered under a typo
If you find your registration on the race's "Find a Participant" page, but you don't see it under your account (and you have claimed ALL possible accounts as explained above), then you may have registered under a typo. Please contact info@runsignup.com.

Why do I not see this option? +

This Race does not have this feature enabled for Participants.
Please contact the race directly with any further questions by using the "Contact This Race" link at the bottom of the Registration Management page.

Note: This race may charge a fee for transferring based on what event you were in, and which you are transferring to.

Event to Event Transfers For Those Who Have Registered on RunSignUp

If the race does have this feature enabled, then you can find it by going to your Profile, scrolling down and clicking on My Registered Races Page, going to “Manage Registration”, and then clicking on the tab for “Transfer Event”.

Once under the “Transfer Event” tab, you will be able to make sure that you have selected the correct registrant and event for this transfer.

Next, click “Start Transfer” and go through the registration process for the new event, as is explained in “How to Register”.

Event to Event Transfers For Those Who Have Not Registered on RunSignUp

If you registered offline, and paid your registration fee in person, then the race director may import your registration into their online race records. While any runner who is imported into the race will still have the option to “Transfer to Another Event” online, their original registration fee will not be calculated into the transaction, and therefore they will be asked to pay full price for the event they are transferring into.

Imported runners should not use the “Transfer to Another Event” option.

If you registered for the race offline, and you would like to transfer to another event, then you will need to contact the race directly, using the “Race Contact Info” section of the race page, or the Contact Race button found on your My Registered Races Page.
