RunSignUp.com was originally conceived, created and financed by Bob Bickel.
I started running in high school in 1972 and ran competitively thru my days at Bucknell University. I have had a good career in technology. Since 1994 I have been focused on Internet middleware – the stuff that makes websites work at companies like Bluestone (IPO in 1999 and acquired by HP in 2000), JBoss (acquired by Red Hat in 2006) and various other companies.
I returned to my running roots back in 2003 when I started being a volunteer assistant coach for the Moorestown High School track and cross country teams (www.moorestownxc.org). In 2006 I opened up the Moorestown Running Company with Dave Welsh, who owns the Haddonfield Running Company and Joe Halin, who is our store manager in Moorestown. I help direct several different races in the area for charitable benefit. I also helped create a home cross country course for Moorestown high school by building a system of wood chip trails (http://www.moorestownxc.org/mdrc/NatureTrail.html).
I had started the design for RunSignUp.com back in 2006, but never had time to really get working on it, as I still help a number of technology companies in addition to my coaching and running store duties. In the summer of 2009 I hired Stephen Sigwart and Cataleno & Company to help me build the website. We have grown since then. Brian Robinson and Andrew Burke have joined on the development side, and Jordan Desilets and George Buckheit have joined to help our customers be successful.
I am fortunate enough to be able to fund this myself. My goal is to keep it focused on running related endeavors.
Originally from Massachussets, I moved to Philadelphia to attend Villanova University and decided to stay in the area after completing my masters in software engineering.
I play competitive Ultimate Frisbee, and I use running and road races as a way to improve my endurance on the field.
I'm currently living in Michigan with my beautiful wife Jamie and my son Chase. I’m a graduate of Eastern Michigan University where I earned several titles in Track and Field such as MVP, All American, NCAA Champion, and Olympic Trials Finalist. My goal at Runsignup is to help race directors utilize the full functionality of our system. I am always seeking new feedback from our users to find better and smoother ways to do things on the site. We are an ever evolving site that continues to meet the needs and desires or the running community.
A lifelong resident of Moorestown, NJ with 35 years of Sales and Marketing experience. Graduate of Drexel University. Married to Beth for 25 years and have three children. The girls are both collegiate rowers, Kirsten at Harvard and Emily at Cornell (starting in the fall of 2011). A founding member of the Scott Coffee Moorestown Rotary 8K. I have been either the Race Co-director or Director for the past 26 years. Became associated with RunSignUp.com through the Rotary Run. Had such a good experience using RunSignUp.com that I decided to help the company spread the word to other race directors about what a great product it is.
Originally from the South Shore of Massachusetts, I currently live in Pennsylvania while I attend university. In 2010, I graduated from Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA and am currently attending Villanova University as a member of the Class of 2014. I just recently finished the Philidelphia Marathon in 3:52 and have a goal of 3:30 for next year's race with aspirations for the Boston Marathon back home! I joined the RunSignUp team in November 2011 and am currently working on many UI components for the widgets, as well as the e-mail marketing campaign for race directors.
A User Experience Designer and Presentation Layer Architect; Jeff has more than 10 years experience designing and developing web applications. Mostly a recreational runner, Jeff has encountered other sign up services while registering for Mud Runs and 5ks, and felt there was room for improvement. Jeff lives in South Jersey with his wife and young daughter, and can frequently be found complaining about browser support to anyone who will listen.
A North Jersey resident my entire life it took the rehabilitation of an ankle injury to truly appreciate the value of running. Once I started running I didn't stop. I started out as a recreational runner only to find myself at the track working out with some notable athletes. I was convinced by my mates that I should start the Passaic County Runner's Club (PCRC), serving the northern Passaic County and surrounding areas. Soon after that, the PCRC Winter Series started. From there the list of events just continued to grow until I became a race director… then promoter. I also help local race directors and timers use RunSignUp on a part time basis.
I'm also a performance engineer, having assisted hsbc.com with the initial building blocks of their present day online framework, I know how to use technology to its greatest advantage. Having taken a long hard look at RunSignup.com I knew it was something I wanted to be involved in. The features and capabilities fit a running event to a tee, bar none. So if you’re what I like to call a "newbie" race director, you’re in the right place as most of what you need to get the word out about your "run" is available here on RunSignup.com. Be sure to check with us often as the features afforded in the development roadmap are chock-full!!! If you’re interested in catching up with me or my consultancy please contact me through my homepage at www.rmmrconsulting.com or through my Linkedin account. Cheers!
A Haddonfield, NJ native, I recently graduated from The College of Wooster and decided to move out west. Currently located in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, I split my free time between skiing the awesome snow in the winter and running the mountains in the summer. I am currently working on the RunSignUp Sites aspect of RunSignUp, helping everyone to make pretty and fun websites of their own with ease.
I'm a lifelong South Jersey resident with a wife and two kids. I started running when I was 14 as a freshman in high school on the cross country team and have run on and off recreationally in the years since. Though I'm by no means an impressive runner, I bring my technology skills to bear as part of the RunSignUp team that seeks to change the technology landscape surrounding running for the better.
I recently graduated from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and am now pursuing a PhD in Computer and Informational Sciences at the University of Delaware. My hobbies include running and developing websites.
