Running the 2026 NYC Marathon in Honor of Those Who Serve

My name is Katie Caggiano, and I’m a New York City resident with a deep personal connection to the US military community. I am excited to announce that in 2026, I am running the NYC Marathon while fundraising for the Semper Fi & America’s Fund.

Service has always been part of my life. My late father, Joseph P. Caggiano (1964 - 2013), did NROTC at Villanova University and served as a Surface Warfard Officer in the United States Navy on the U.S.S Independence for ten years (1986 - 1994), dedicating a decade of his life to our country. Today, that tradition continues in my family—my brother is currently a Navy pilot, specifically a WSO, based in Virginia Beach, flying F/A-18F Super Hornets, and my older sister, Cori, played on the Womens Lacrosse team at the Naval Academy, then served in the Marine Corps from 2017-2023 before receiving an honorable discharge after sustaining several injuries during her time in the service.

I am an avid runner and completed my first full marathon this past year. Taking on another marathon—especially in the city I call home—is an exhilarating challenge and a powerful way to combine my passion for running with a cause that is close to my heart.

Because of their sacrifices and commitment, supporting veterans and service members has always felt deeply personal to me. Running the NYC Marathon for the Semper Fi & America’s Fund is an incredibly meaningful way to honor the veterans in my own family, as well as the countless men and women who have served our country over the past two centuries.
