Love2Reach is thrilled to partner with Special Olympics Ohio during its 2019 season. All funds raised through L2R’s efforts will go to support the mission of Special Olympics Ohio. Specifically, Love2Reach will support programs related to athletes who participate in track and field related activities.  Special Olympics Ohio offers 22 Olympic-style individual and team sports that provide meaningful training and competition opportunities for 23,000 persons with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

Training programs offered through Special Olympics Ohio include: Alpine Skiing, Athletics (Track & Field), Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Competitive Cheer, Cycling, Equestrian, Figure Skating, Flag Football, Golf, Gymnastics (Artistic & Rhythmic), Nordic Skiing, Powerlifting, Roller Skating, Soccer, Softball, Speed Skating, Swimming, Tennis, and Volleyball. To be eligible for participation in an accredited local Special Olympics program, an athlete must have an intellectual disability and must be eight years of age or older to compete. Athletes between the ages of two and seven can participate as part of the Young Athletes Program. Special Olympics Ohio holds local and area competitions throughout Ohio each year which are feeder events to nine different state championship competitions throughout the year.

Special Olympics Ohio offers both traditional and Unified Sports. Unified Sports join people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team, based on similar ability. There are also opportunities to participate in Athlete Leadership and Healthy Athletes activities.

The Special Olympics is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019. Special Olympics Ohio knows that volunteers are the backbone of a strong organization. Each year more than 15,000 people donate their time and talents to our Movement. Love2Reach is excited to join them in their "inclusion revolution" as we raise money and awareness of the accomplishments of these amazing athletes and their families.
