We create opportunities for our team and foster economic development everywhere we operate,
every day.

investing in our communities
Our commitment to serving the communities where we operate goes way back … all the way back to 1946. We keep that promise alive today through our dedication to serving new generations of families.

How do we do it? By creating welcoming spaces where all families can shop and find joy. By holding hands with partners and using the voice of our brands to bring communities together. By empowering the Target family—our team members across the country—to serve and support their local neighborhoods. And that’s just the beginning…

philanthropy
Part of being a good neighbor is supporting communities through local giving. Our grants help more kids get involved in youth soccer programs, and provide K-12 schools support for field trips and other things they need. We also support community festivals and other events, and provide support for local organizations including food shelves, public safety partners and more.

From our founding in Minnesota in 1962 to opening in our 50th state—Vermont—in 2018, we're proud to serve guests across the United States. Read on for Target milestones, memories and community moments in every state we call home.
