During this unprecedented time, Albums of Hope is reaching out to share hope with new demographics beyond cancer survivors. We have taken the initiative to give a lift of spirits through our albums to medical professionals on the front lines, elderly who are now so isolated from loved ones, and those that are particularly feeling the angst of sheltering in place.
Albums of Hope, a 501(c)(3) charity organization, began as a personal mission, a mission to feel helpful during a time when Founder and President, Laura Townsend, felt helpless against cancer. Her husband, diagnosed with colorectal cancer in September 2008, had been undergoing chemotherapy treatments for over two years. As his caregiver, Laura often felt helpless in her abilities to bring Brad comfort during his long battle. She turned to her love of scrapbooking as an outlet, and with the help of family and friends, they created albums to give to patients where Brad went for treatment. They filled pocket-sized albums with beautiful scenic photos and uplifting quotes. The first 100 albums were donated to Northshore Oncology, Crystal Lake, IL. After Brad lost his battle with cancer in April 2011, Albums of Hope was incorporated and our mission continues strong.
