Brown Bear Daycare and Learning Center (BBDC) is licensed by the Department of Children and Family Services serving children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age. The primary purpose of Brown Bear Daycare and Learning Center is to create an environment that offers opportunities for children to experience success while supporting the family and community. We believe that children learn best through play. In a warm, supportive and respectful environment the BBDC provides opportunities for children to grow and learn cognitively, physically, socially and emotionally as individuals and members of a group. The BBDC's philosophy is based on the concept that knowledge is constructed by children through her or his interactions with both the physical and social world. This concept is central to the dynamics of our program because it puts the children, their ideas and explorations at the center in the classroom. The role of the teacher is to thoughtfully and responsively facilitate children's interactions with their environment.
