Damon Maher was elected to the Board of Legislators in November 2017 and is currently serving his first, two year term, representing Eastchester, Tuckahoe and about half of New Rochelle.

He is a lifelong Westchester County resident, born in Yonkers and has lived in Hastings, West Harrison (Silver Lake), Larchmont and, since 1994, New Rochelle. He is a managing partner in a small law firm in lower Manhattan that concentrates in employees' rights and civil litigation.

Damon was valedictorian of his class at Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, received his B.A. from Yale College, and his J.D. from Fordham Law School, where he was a Member of the Fordham Urban Law Journal, before being admitted to practice in New York state and federal courts.  As a lawyer, he has been active in the Commercial Law League of America and the New York Democratic Lawyers Council.

He has been active for many years in local volunteer organizations, serving most recently on the Boards of the New Rochelle Bar Association, NewRo Runners, New Rochelle Public Library (as an elected Trustee), Westchester Foster & Adoptive Families, and Youth Soccer of New Rochelle Travel Division, which he also served for many years as a successful coach and mentor to other coaches as well as to players from New Rochelle's many diverse communities. Past directorships include Yale Alumni Fund and Yale Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and he is a founding member of the Giving Circle of Lower Westchester and New Rochelle Against Racism ("NewRoAR").

In his first year in office, Damon was part of a newly constituted Board of Legislators, which has enacted laws and policies increasing the equitable availability of housing for all ages and income levels; better protecting of low-wage workers and immigrants; and reducing access to guns. His priorities for 2019 include further progress on those objectives plus criminal justice and detention reform, increased government investment in quality day care for children of low and moderate income workers, and environmental protection.

Damon and his wife, Deborah Levy Maher, a financial planner who works in Katonah, have three adult children. He trains with the local amateur athletic group NewRo Runners and has become a regionally ranked long-distance runner in his age bracket. You will often see him riding his bicycle around the county.
