Description
Join us for the 1st Annual GSB 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run. This is a great chance to do something active with your family and members of the Alabama National Guard. The 5K race is open to all National Guard members, veterans, and community members (kid friendly event).
Help us support our military members by signing up to participate in our 1st annual GSB 20TH Special Forces Group (Airborne) 5K Run/Walk. If you cannot make the event or you would like to make a donation please visit the tabs on our website for more information. Visit the store page if you would like to purchase a race T-Shirt only. Proceeds will be invested in the GSB 20TH Special Group Dining out to support our active military members and veterans. This event is held in memory of SFC Karl (Kevin) Provens “Paratroopers never die, they just slip away”.
We thank you in advance for supporting the members of the GSB 20TH Special Forces Group (Airborne).
Runners will start inside the National Guard Motor Pool and turn left just pass the National Guard building to head towards the Gadsden Regional Airport. Runners will run down the Gadsden Regional air strip to the turn around point and finish inside the motor pool where they will be greeted by National Guard members. We will kick off the event with the 5K starting at 8:00 AM. Followed by the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. All 5K runners will be timed.
After race events: Music, food and beverages, and much more fun for the family.
- Packet Pick Up: Friday June 24 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the National Guard Unit (196 Ira Gray Drive Gadsden, AL 35904)
- Race Day Packet Pick Up: 7:00 - 7:30 a.m. in front of the National Guard Unit
- Awards will be given in the 5K (Awards will be given to the top three male and female winners)
- All runners will receive the GSB 20TH Special Forces 5K race T-Shirt and Dog Tag (Please register before June 12 to guarantee T-Shirt)
ATTENTION: Due to the location of this event strollers and dogs are not allowed.
Virtual Run
On race day, pick a time you'll participate in the run on June 25th and track your run using a running app as you complete your 5K (3.1 miles). Upload your completed race to our results page via online submission or via email by June 25 2022 (11:59pm).
Top compatible (free) running apps for use are: MapMyRun, RunKeeper, Strava, Garmin
AWARDS
Awards will be presented to the overall male and female (1st, 2nd, and 3rd). All finisher will receive the 20TH SFG (A) Dog Tag as they cross the finish line.
All awards must be picked up at the event. Awards will be available for pick up starting at 10:00 am. Awards are not shipped post-race and must be claimed at the event.
Course Map

Water and First Aid stations will be marked alone the course.
