(un) run (not running but supporting)
Hoover, AL US 35242
Throughout the world there are more than 153 million orphans. Once these children reach a certain age (around 16 years old), they are released from government care to make it on their own without any aid. Most cannot make themselves a meal, much less a dignified living. In reality, most of the unadopted children become trapped in a lifestyle of sexual exploitation, drug abuse and slavery.
WHY DOES (UN)ADOPTED EXIST?
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” -James 1:27
(Un)adopted exists to make a difference. As a ministry of Lifeline Children’s Services, we are uniquely positioned to initiate effective change. The call to rescue the orphan in distress cannot be fulfilled through adoption alone. (un)adopted exists to provide a hope and a future for orphans around the world by facilitating a safe environment to disciple and equip children in need.
What is the (un)run?
The (un) run is for those that may not be able to make it morning of the run, but still want to support (un)adopted. If you register as an (un) runner we will mail you your shirt and goodie bag to you.
Can I run on a team/how do I create a team?
Yes you can! We are excited to give our runners the chance to get others to run with you at the r(un) for one. Click HERE for more information on teams or Click HERE to watch a video on how to set up a team.
I am going to register my child for the fun run. Do I need to register myself if I plan to run with him or her?
No. You do not need to pay for yourself to join your child in the fun r(un).
What is chip timing?
Chip timing gives you exact times. It is more accurate than manual timing (and more expensive to have), thus costs an additional $5 per runner. Keep in mind that if you do not select to be timed you will not receive a bib number, be timed in any way, be included in the results and will not be eligible for awards. We will have a large clock so that those who choose to not be timed will know their approximate time.
I registered for the r(un) but am not going to be able to make it. Can I get my money back?
Unfortunately, there are no refunds for this race. Please know that your registration fee will still go to supporting (un)adopted’s ministry to the fatherless.
I cannot run, but would like to support the r(un) for one.
We have a number of opportunities available for business and individual sponsorships. Please contact Elizabeth Gilmer at firstname.lastname@example.org or 205-940-4623 for more information on how your business, restaurant, family or church can be involved in supporting (un)adopted.
Do you need volunteers for the r(un)?
We need lots of volunteers! Serving time will be from 6 AM until 11 AM. Please send Elizabeth Gilmer and email at email@example.com and she will follow up with you with available volunteer opportunities.
Can I pick up my packet before race day?
Yes. We will be having pre-packet pickup at the Trak Shak on 280 Friday, September 6 from 11-6. The address for Trak Shak 280 is: 4740 U.S. 280 Birmingham, AL 35242
What if I can’t make it to packet pick up?
That is okay. You can still pick up your packet the morning of the run. However, we recommend getting there by 7:00 AM.
What time should I be at the race?
If you have not picked up your packet or have not registered we recommend being at Veteran’s Park around 7 AM. Registration gets busy at 7:00 A.M. and this will give you plenty of time to take care of everything and be ready to run at 8 AM. If you have already picked up your packet we recommend being there around 7:30.
Where do I park?
Veteran’s Park has limited parking so we recommend parking in the Spain Park High School parking lot. We will have plenty of volunteers along the road to point you in the right direction to the parking lot and to the course.
What should I expect on race day?
A lot of fun! We will have everything from good food, live music, a bouncy house, kids crafts, as well as an opportunity to see some of what the Lord is doing through our (un)adopted ministry. Plan to hang around long after the race has finished.
Are strollers allowed on the course?
No. Because we anticipate so many runners and much of the Veteran’s Park trail is loose gravel it is safer for all our runners and your child that we do not allow strollers. After the 5k and fun r(un) end feel free to take a stroll along the course.
Are dogs allowed on the course?
They are not. Since we will have so many runners it is safer for everyone that dogs do not run the course. Feel free to bring your pet to enjoy the post run festivities, but we do ask that you do not take it on the course.
Do I get a t-shirt or other giveaway?
If you register for the 5k or the (un) run by Thursday, Septeber 5 you will receive a shirt. If you register after the 4th or on the day of the run you will receive a shirt as long as they last. Those that register for the fun r(un) will not receive a t-shirt, but will get a small giveaway. Extra shirts, including youth sizes, will be available for purchase the day of the race for $15 as long as supplies last.
