Mr. Rogers’ Warrior 5k run/walk

The family of Chris Rogers and Hudson Race Timing are hosting a Mr. Rogers’ Warrior 5k Run. 
The race will be held at Lake Harrison starting and ending at the soccer fields. 

This event will help raise money for the Mr. Rogers’ scholarship, which will be presented to at least one senior from Western Grove School who meets the criteria for the $1,000.00 award. Eligible applicants must show excellent written and verbal communication skills through their application essays and a rigorous interview process, and he or she must also be enrolled in a four-year university within 4 months of graduating from high school. The selected candidate will receive $500 per semester for the first year of his/her undergraduate career.            

Chris Rogers passed away on July 13, 2013.  Chris was a 1986 graduate of Harrison High School where he loved playing football for the Goblins.  He went on to get his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Arkansas.  After graduation, Chris became an assistant football coach and teacher at Liberty-Birch Tree High School in Mountain View, MO.  Our family then moved back to Arkansas where he taught English, Journalism, and Speech at Western Grove High School.  He also helped and coached track, basketball, and baseball.  He loved all the students and was a tough but encouraging teacher.
