Tell Your Story and Personalize Your Fundraising Page
Personalize your fundraising page by adding a photo or videos, sharing your story, setting your goal, and making a donation. Help your donors understand why the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin is so important to you and how their support makes an impact. Tell your potential donors why you are getting involved. Share your personal connection to autism with them. Remember, your friends and family are interested in the cause, but it is you and your story they are primarily interested in. If you are going to do a walk/run as an individual or a Team, pick a date and schedule it. Use that when talking to people!
Set a Goal and Deadlines
Goals lead to results – when your supporters see what you are trying to achieve, they’ll be motivated to help you reach your goal. Always make sure to provide a deadline to your donors as well. They’ll be motivated to act quickly if they must meet a deadline. Follow-up with your friends that are slower to respond. Many people may want to donate, but if they are busy they may just forget.
Use Social Media
Social Media is a great way to reach more people. Highlight your participation in the 20th annual A-Team Fun Walk for Autism and ask for support. Always include your personal fundraising page link. Include pictures and videos if you have them.
Post regularly and often. Messages can quickly get missed with everyone sharing their own statuses.
Don’t forget to add #ateamfunwalk on your posts.
Remind everyone that you are supporting a 510c3 charity and that all money raised stays local to help individuals affected by autism in SE Wisconsin. Your affiliate serves over 38% of the whole state’s population and is the largest affiliate in the state!
Ask for Support
Remember, the best way to raise money is to ASK! Write letters, send emails, and reach out by phone or text. Share your link on Facebook and in email signatures. Share your story and remind donors that their gift is tax deductible and supports the community right here in southeastern Wisconsin.
Remind your Network
Ask more than once! Everyone does it--you see the email or Facebook post, tell yourself you will respond later, and keep scrolling. You forget to come back to it. It can take multiple asks before you catch them at the right time, so keep following up. Silence is not a "no." And be sure to thank them when they do donate!
Share Your Success
Keep track of your donations and keep sharing progress toward your goal. It can help motivate others to give and show your donors their impact on your goal.
Are You Going To Build a Team
You can't do it alone--ask friends, family members, and colleagues to join your team! Each team member will get an individual page that links to the team. Set a goal together, inspire some friendly competition, and plan a fun event to build toward your goal.
