The Everyone Runs November 8 Tucson Medical Center Veterans Day Half Marathon & 5k is unquestionably Tucson’s premier and most beautiful course running in the majestic Tucson Mountain Park!
You’ll want to make this Fall half marathon your goal race for the season and plan it as a part of your training, as the course will be challenging for sure. With the beauty of this area, and hardly a building or home in-site, plus excellent roads, this race is the one you’ll want to run.
Your half marathon will start at Old Tucson (same start line as Run with the Roosters Kinney Rd. 5 Miler) and the course will travel north on Kinney Rd, passing the Desert Museum and then heading west to your turnaround at Sandario Rd. On your return, you will run about 3-miles and then head southeast on McCain Loop Rd. where the magnificent cactus and tree lined Tucson Mountain Park will open-up to you in full glory! At the end of McCain Loop, you will head back on Kinney Rd to your finish at Old Tucson.
Yes, as you will see in our map, this course features many hills and steady grades, but that means there are fast downhills, too! HALF MARATHON MAP: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/1456090306 5K MAP: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/1456090306
The half marathon will only be open to runners and run & walkers. Walkers will be accepted in the 5k, but not the half. The 5k course will be just as beautiful and is a simple out & back on Kinney Rd.
Medals only for all half marathon participants
5-year age group awards in the half and 5k.
Half marathon course support through 10:45 a.m. (3:30 time limit). A part of proceeds from this event will benefit local veteran community groups.
If you are a veteran or active duty, please email email@example.com for your half marathon only discount code.
Prefer a virtual option, we've got you covered. Our virtual events include your race shirt and 1st place awards for 5-year age groups and for overall male and female winners.

If you travel from Kinney and Ajo you will have no restrictions, but please do arrive early. Parking will go through the main entry lot and from the lower overflow lot for those traveling from the south. Everyone must leave from the lower lot exit.
Health and welfare of all: if you not feeling well in any way, we ask that you not come to the race. You can switch to the virtual half or 5k or defer to the 2021 race. We are very serious about this, as we do not want to be a part of the spread of any illnesses.
Start times: 7:15am start time for the half marathon, 7:30am for the 5k.
Wave starts: both the half and 5k starts will start in waves of 12 runners at a time, each leaving one-minute apart. Waves will be emailed to all participants mid-week of the race.
Masks: masks must be worn at ALL times when in the Old Tucson parking lot/event staging areas and at the start/finish line (see rules below).
The Race Rules:
• To avoid close contact, we will be starting this race in seeded waves and we are required to limit each wave to 12 runners.
· Please stay in or around your car until at least 5-minutes before your wave start.
· Waves starts will be seeded fastest to not as fastest. Those signing up after November 4 will be put in the later waves.
· We will call up each group as we move along. Stay spaced!
• You MUST wear a mask at line-up. It can be removed when you start.
• The mask must then be put back on when you re-enter the Old Tucson parking lot.
· 5k: Walkers and jogging strollers will start in the back of the pack. Each wave will leave one- minute apart.
· We require that there be no spitting or nose blowing anywhere at the event.
· During the race you must keep at least 15-feet between you and the runner in front of you. When passing, please pass at least six feet to the left and let the other runner know that you are passing.
Spectators: due to county restrictions, we ask that family and friends do not attend the event. Sorry!
No pacers permitted: personal pacers/friends are NOT allowed to pace you on the course, unless they registered for the race. Spacing still must be maintained.
Timing: the half and 5k will be chip timed, which will be attached to the back of your race bib. If you do not wear your bib, you will not have a race finishing time and will not be eligible for finisher awards. Do not bend the timing chip. Your time starts and finishes when you cross the start/finish line. Replacement bibs are $5. Your final time and all awards will be based on the chip time. Overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the half and 5k will be determined by gun time, which is the official time per USATF rules.
Overall male and female winners will be removed from age group awards.
Bag Drop: for security reasons, we will not have a bag drop area. No need to worry, as your parking is right near the start/finish.
Your course: so that none of you lose your way on our course, here’s the very simple low-down on where you’re headed (map is posted on everyoneruns.net front page):
The half and 5k start and finish at the Old Tucson main parking lot. Our course is very simple and completely lined with orange cones for your safety and easy direction. Just follow the cones, which you must stay within, or you will automatically be disqualified. On Kinney Rd. and Mile Wide you will be running in the left lane (southbound for vehicles). On McCain Loop, you will be running in the right lane (southbound for vehicles). DO NOT RUN OR CROSS INTO THE LANE THAT IS FOR VEHICLE TRAFFIC ONLY!!!!
Half marathon: this event is for runners only. No walkers permitted. Your course travels north on Kinney Rd, past the AZ Desert Museum (you are now on Mile Wide Rd), turns around just east of Sandario Rd, heading back to McCain Loop Rd., where you will turn right and run in the right lane. McCain Loop ends at Kinney Rd, where you will turn right and head directly back to your finish at Old Tucson. CUT-OFF TIME IS 10:45am (3:30 time limit)
5k: your start is the same as the half marathon and runs north on Kinney Rd. for 1.55 miles to your turnaround and then straight back to the start/finish line at Old Tucson.
BOTH courses are USA track and Field certified courses for exact measurement!
Water Stations and Porta Potties for half marathon: due to the virus there will be no staffed water stations. You must carry your own water. We will have three stops where you can grab a 16-ounce water bottle (while supplies last). They will be evenly placed throughout the course, one of which you can get in both directions. It will be your responsibility to dispose of it in the garbage bags on the course. Please no littering!
The half marathon will have a “re-fueling station” at the turnaround with bananas, water, and Sport Beans, and a medic rotating in the area.
Porta-Potties will also be available on the half marathon course. Please refrain from urinating in the open desert and neighborhoods. We are guests of this area and would like to return next year.
The 5k will not have any water stations. Carry you own water please.
When you finish your race, put on your mask, grab your shirt, burrito breakfast and snacks to-go, a bottle of water, and head home. This year, the race is all about the run and nothing much else. Health and safety are our #1 concerns. If you cannot abide, please choose the virtual event.
Shirts: race shirts will be available only after the race. No size switching until after the race.
Awards: due to the virus, awards for the in-person event will not be handed out at the race. They will only be at the Fleet Feet stores at 12 noon after the race. You can see your time immediately after you finish by enabling participant tracking to your cell phone. You will find that on the front page of our Run Sign Up registration page.
Overall male and female for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and 5-year age groups will take home a custom pennant and special gifts from our sponsors. Age groups will be determined on race day.
Overall winners will be removed from age-group qualification.
Visit the Everyone Runs Facebook page at 1pm, Sunday, when we will do our official awards ceremony.
Our raffle winners will be announced at the race and you can collect your prize at the shirt/breakfast tent.
All half marathoners receive a custom Veterans Day medal. We will not have medals for the 5k.
Photos: Event photos will be posted a few days after the race at www.flikr.com/everyoneruns. Photos are always free!
Virtual Event Details:
For those of you who would prefer to run on your own, or with a small group of friends, we are now offering our virtual half marathon, half marathon 3-person relay and 5k. The rules are simple:
Run your event wherever you choose. We do not recommend the actual race- course, as it has no shoulder for running. You agree to run at your own risk, understanding that our event insurance does not cover virtual runners or walkers.
For the half marathon relay, simply decide what distance each person will be running and then combine the times.
In order to have a time in the results, you must enable participant track on the race registration page and then click on “results” to enter your time. You will be included in virtual age group results and eligible for an age-group first-place award (2nd and 3rd will not be awarded in the virtual race). If you don't want a time, that's cool.
Swag: you’ll still receive your race bib, shirt, half marathon medal, and be entered in our post-race raffle. The bib will be emailed to you to print at home. Your shirt will be available post-race at Fleet Feet only on Oracle Rd. only.
If you have any questions at all, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 520-797-7867
