Description

The Bakersfield Track Club Summer Series (formerly known as the Darryl Easter Memorial Handicap Series) is a series of five 5K runs with the sixth as a fun run, volleyball game, and awards dinner in the park. Summer Series races are every other Tuesday evening beginning June 5, 2018, at Hart Park, Section 2 at 7 p.m. with the exception for the last date, which will be one week after the race series ends.

2018 RACE DATES: June 5, June 19, July 3, July 17, July 31, and August 7 (Award/Fun Run/Volleyball)

SEASON PASS PRICING:

$35 for non BTC members
$25 for BTC members*
$18 for students (same price for member or non-member)

SINGLE RACE PRICING:

$7 for non BTC members
$5 for BTC members*
$3 for students (same price for member or non-member)

Register by mail by downloading the registration form.
If under 18 years of age, your parent/guardian must sign the waiver.  There will be no exceptions to this. Those under 18 and coaches are asked to download the registration form above and have it signed prior to arriving for the event.

DON’T FORGET TO BRING YOUR BIB TO EACH RACE. If you lose or forget your bib, you will have to wait in the registration line and pay $2 for a replacement.

INFORMATION:
CAUTION: 5K running events should only be undertaken by individuals who have been exercising regularly. The BTC and its members are always welcoming to people who want to begin an exercise program, but seek doctor’s advice first. That being said, when you do come out to enjoy the fun, make sure you are well hydrated and if you notice you are not feeling well, slow down and let someone know. Water stations will be provided on the course but you may wish to carry additional hydration.

DOGS: Sorry, but as a matter of safety for the animals due to the high summer temperatures and hot dirt and pavement, we are not allowing dogs at the Summer Series races. There will be NO DOGS allowed on the course for any race. There are no additional volunteers to watch your dog while you run and it is unsafe to leave a pet in your vehicle. Thank you for respecting this rule and leaving your pets at home.

SHIRTS:  You must participate in a total of 3 races or purchase a season pass to earn a shirt. Shirts will be given out at the last race. You must be present to pick up your shirt or assign someone to pick it up for you. Unclaimed shirts will be sold.

SPECIAL NOTE: This is a fun race. Have fun with it. Enjoy the race experience and running with your fellow athletes. This race is set up as an achievement based competition, but generally EQUALIZED across the various age groups regardless of gender. If you are not a top competitor in your age group, we still encourage you to compete against other runners of similar ability in all the age groups. Please be courteous to all runners on trail with you and enjoy yourself.
