New Date: To Be Determined
Due to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns, Aquarius Aquarium Institute has cancelled the Run for Water and Water Planet Adventure Day scheduled for April 11, 2020. We are currently assessing future dates and will update this site when a new date has been set. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your support. The health and safety of our runners and walkers are of the utmost importance to us.
Aquarius Aquarium Institute has held its 5k Run and 2-mile Family Walk in Fresno since 2003! Our 18th Annual Run for Water is a timed non-competitive run starting at 7:30 AM followed by a Family Walk at 8:00 AM. The event takes place on the beautiful paved Sugar Pine Trail starting and finishing at River Park Shopping Center.
This event is RAIN -or- SHINE
All proceeds benefit the nonprofit Aquarius Aquarium Institute educational outreach programs going on now and the building of the Fresno Aquarium, which will celebrate the unique water story of California's San Joaquin Valley. The Fresno Aquarium will immerse visitors in the aquatic environment of our region as well as in other ecosystems throughout the world.
Following the Run for Water, our FREE Water Planet Adventure Day starts at 9:00 AM at The Shops at River Park in front of Me-N-Eds Coney Island Grill.
Kids of all ages enjoy a morning of fun with our living California Tide Pool Touch Tank, Fun Science, Water Conservation Games, Music and more!
The Fresno Aquarium is a project of the nonprofit 501(c)(3) Aquarius Aquarium Institute designed by Fresno’s own award-winning architect, Arthur Dyson, AIA, dean emeritus of the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture. The site, donated by the Roy and Betty Jura Family, is adjacent to State Route 99 at the northern entrance to Fresno County, overlooking the San Joaquin River.
The Institute is building the Fresno Aquarium in phases as donations come in, so every gift and Charter Membership is critical to our continued success. The design for Phase One was created by Arthur Dyson in 2010 around 12 major exhibits generously donated to the project in 2008/2009 by the Steinhart Aquarium of San Francisco. This phase is currently under construction. Phase Two (rendering at the top of this page) will be constructed next to Phase One in the future.

Your generous, tax-deductible support is greatly appreciated.
Teaching Tidepools® is Aquarius Aquarium Institute’s highly-popular original outreach program going on now! As we raise money to build the Fresno Aquarium, we are giving central San Joaquin Valley preschool and elementary grade children the opportunity today to see and touch our living California tide pool animal collection and interact with two of our staff educators right in their own classrooms.
Students throughout Fresno, Madera, Merced, Kings and Tulare counties experience our sea creatures along with an entertaining, interactive standards-based curriculum teachers love.
The program’s Disciplinary Core Ideas are designed to meet California Next Generation Science Standards for Public Schools (CA NGSS).
Your participation in the Run for Water supports the Institute's CURRENT nonprofit educational programs in our local schools - encouraging student curiosity and a sense of wonder - as well as our Fresno Aquarium project.
