Burger and Double Burger Runs 2016

The 7th Annual Burger Run on Sunday, Nov 6th. This 15 mile trail run is equally challenging and picturesque. The Burger Run uses the rugged Whiskey Flat Trail starting in Kernville and finishing at the renowned McNally Fairview Lodge. McNallys is best known for its mouth-watering giant steaks, but somewhat less known and equally revered is the hamburger shack which serves up hamburgers good enough to make the most arden vegetarian wane. To all who finish the run, a complimentary McNally burger awaits you. To get there, expect a tough run on a trail that is somewhat neglected in the middle and rarely sees much even terrain and resembles a favorite rollar coaster. Separated from even a road is the Kern River, so participants need to be self-reliant and comfortable with trail runs. One or Two water stations provide minimal support with water and first aid and an option for those not yet up to the full 15 miles.

First Timers:

This is a 15 mile course, but it's a tough 15 miles. Rarely flat and minus one long climb the trail is a continuous roller coaster of quick burst up only to be followed by quad clenching downhill spurts. If that is not enough, the trail is rocky and uneven. The trail is also unsupported with roads. One and possible two aid stations are the only links across the Kern River and the road to either the finish or start.

Three options are available.

The most popular is the Trek. These Trekkers leave earlier than the runners and proceed without the pressure of timers and finishing order. You still earn a survivor medal and the ultimate prize, a McNally Burger. Some runners turn in respectable enough times that would have earned an award in the run, while others proceed with a hurried determination unflustered by the tick tick of the watch. These Trekkers finish anywhere between 4 hours and 9 hours. This is not a trek for a casual Sunday stroll. Darkness, and worried course officials will be giving you the concerned, but impatient look at the finish.
