Challenge Yourself and Enjoy the Great Outdoors
Join the Sierra TrailBlazers Running Club and Bear Yuba Land Trust for the 2nd annual Champion Mine Trail Race!
Get ready to travel to a must-see destination race in Northern California. Explore some of Nevada City’s most exciting trails with this brand-new half-marathon (13.1 miles) event. The course winds through towering pines, crosses a historic swinging bridge, and challenges runners with a series of rewarding climbs. With multiple aid stations, historical landmarks, and a newly constructed trail section offering varied terrain, this course rivals some of the best trail races in Northern California.
Runners will enjoy breathtaking views along the Tribute Trail and Deer Creek, combined with a beautiful variety of landscapes throughout the race. Best of all, the adventure begins right on Nevada City’s historic Broad Street — a truly unforgettable starting line!
The Champion Mine Trail Run offers a dynamic mix of pavement, gravel, and single-track trails, making it a must-do event for any trail enthusiast.
There will also be a 5K and new this year, a 10K! A 5K too short for you and a 1/2 marathon just sounds painful, then please consider the 10K. You won't be disappointed.

A Few Rules to Follow:
Sierra TrailBlazers love their dogs, but we cannot allow them to accompany you during the race. Dogs are welcome, on leash, to celebrate your finish at the Miners Foundry.
No strollers on the course, due to the single-track trail. This includes both distances, the half-marathon and 5K & 10K.
Have your own cup, water bottle, or vessel with you while you are racing. Each aid station will have water and Scratch hydration to refill your bottles. There will also be two water-only aid stations available to fill water bottles.
Half-marathon runners will be asked to walk across the swinging bridge due to the suspension. 5K & 10K participants will pass right next to the bridge. A photographer will be there to capture the picture-perfect moment.
Please, no headphones unless they are open eared; we want you to stay safe and hear others on the trail behind you. The trail is open to the public, so we will not be the only ones out there.
Trail etiquette requires runners to remember to stay to the right, single file, along narrow, single-track areas. If you are passing someone, please announce yourself and say 'passing on the left' so they know you want to pass. We can all keep a smile on our faces and have a great time by keeping other trail users in mind and not impeding anyone on the course, as well as ourselves.
If you find yourself off course, you must retrace your route and proceed on the correct route to qualify for awards. This will be strickly enforced and there will be someone checking numbers of runners as you pass over the bridge.
You are responsible for knowing the course and, if necessary, downloading the gpx or Strava map for your reference. Some smart running watches will tell you if you are off course. We will have course monitors, flagging, and signage, but those can be vandalized and removed. Unfortunately, we have to mark the course the night before. We will try our best, but ultimately it is your job to stay on the correct trail.
