OXNARD. Just sixty miles northwest of Los Angeles, you’ll find the casual, seaside city of Oxnard where oceanfront recreation, fabulous festivals, sweet strawberries, exceptional weather and miles of uncrowded beaches await your discovery. Home to the California Strawberry Festival, and neighbor to the breathtaking Channel Islands National Park and Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary, Oxnard is a welcomed retreat any time of year. This is the venue for 2019 Cal Tri Events Oxnard - 9.29.19 and the 1st race in the 2019 Cal Tri Events Fall Series - 9.29 Oxnard + 10.26 LA + 11.3 Newport Dunes.
RACE HIGHLIGHTS. Cal Tri Events Oxnard features 12 options with 6 each at both the sprint & Olympic distance: triathlon, triathlon relay, swimbike, swimrun, swim and run. The sprint distance is a 400 yard swim, 8.5 mile bike and 5K run. The Olympic distance is a 0.93 mile swim, 25.5 mile bike and 10K run. The course starts on the white sands of Oxnard Beach with a humane & safe rolling ocean swim start parallelling the shoreline. Athletes will then enjoy a fast and flat route along local strawberry fields with scenic views throughout the entire route. Finally, it’s time to lace up those shoes for a run along the gently curving paved pathways along Oxnard Beach with the roar of the crowd pulling participants to the finish line.
“Mayor Tim Flynn and the City of Oxnard have been instrumental in bringing Cal Tri Events Oxnard a reality,” said Thom Richmond, Founder Cal Tri Events. “Cal Tri Events Oxnard is the perfect balance between high quality and affordable and accessible with early bird adult prices starting at $60 and youth prices at $30. In addition, California Triathlon provides six monthly 3-hour coached clinics leading up the race with Olympic medalists, world champions and professional triathletes descending on Oxnard to get athletes race ready.”
