UPDATE: The 2 person relay division of this race will be free for teens (13-19) who are residents of Las Animas, Huerfano and Colfax (NM) counties. Those under age 18  are required to have the signature of a parent or bona fide guardian. Parents/guardians should email the names of the runners and the city/county/state address to:  benwiley357@rocketmail.com no later than August 1 to qualify for free entry for the 2 person relay and must be available to sign at packet pickup time before the race on August 3rd from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. (prior to the 8 a.m. race start).

August 3, 2019 marks the 125th anniversary for the Town of Aguilar, CO, in the shadow of Southern Colorado's Spanish Peaks on the Highway of Legends Scenic Byway. What better way to kickoff the festivities than a 12.5K (7 & 3/4 mi.) race?! Or team up as a friends or family couple partnership for the 2-person relay by splitting the essentially flat "out and back" course half and half. The race begins at 8 a.m. at 120 E. Main St., just east of the Park area. Runners will briefly head east on Main Street, turning left on Balsam, then right on Linden, before turning left to head northward on the asphalt surface of Fir Street (CR 53.7). The course continues to the halfway turnaround point, 3.875 miles out from the start, which is also the relay exchange location for those competing in the relay division. The route back is over the same path, before sharing the joy of the accomplishment and joining in the celebratory activities that await in downtown Aguilar, including a parade, car show, live music, kids games, craft vendors and of course delicious food. A total of 10 awards will be made as follows:  The top three male and female finishers, the top male and female Grand Masters finishers (age 50 and over) and the top 2 relay teams. If these categories are not filled the remaining awards will be presented to females and males evenly according to the finish within the gender categories. Note: Relay entries should be aware that the team is responsible for stationing the second leg runner at the relay exchange/turnaround location - on CR 53.7 near the home with the mail box bearing the number 31875. A water stop and porta-potty will be located there. (Shuttle service will not be available.) Also, the full 12.5K participants qualify for points in the ongoing "RaBa Cinco" race series as described at cocorelays.net. Relay participants will earn points at 1/2 the normal rate.
