The King of the Hill 5K road race is an annual event hosted by United Way of Western Connecticut and the Berkshire Corporate Park. This is a certified 5K course through the Berkshire Corporate Park which takes you through the towns of Bethel, Brookfield and Danbury. Proceeds from this race benefit United Way of Western Connecticut's child care, food security and financial stability programs that support local struggling families that United Way calls ALICE®(Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed).
United Way of Western Connecticut helps hard-working, struggling families in our region. Almost 40% of families in the cities and towns we serve have trouble paying for basic necessities, like rent, child care, transportation, housing, and food. This year, our King of the Hill Road Race will be dedicated to supporting those families by raising funds to make food and child care more affordable for people who work hard but struggle to get by.
In fact, here's 5 things you need to know about ALICE and why your participation is so important.
