The Lighthouse Run for Greens Ledge Light

On Saturday, September 26th at 5pm, The Greens Ledge Light Preservation Society will host our 3rd-annual sunset 5k Run and 1-Mile Walk along the Rowayton waterfront, beginning and ending at Bayley Beach overlooking Greens Ledge Lighthouse. (Please show up by 5pm for registration - race officially will begin at 5:30) 

Our end-of-summer fundraising event, please join us either in-person or virtually for the 3rd Annual Lighthouse Run for Greens Ledge Lighthouse! We're offering a "hybrid" format this year where participants can participate "virtually" or join us in-person on race day. Virtual participants can run or walk the beautiful waterfront course at their own leisure any time in September and will receive the Greens Ledge Restoration t-shirt and can submit their times to the website.

Extra safety precautions will be taken this year - including the option to participate virtually - to ensure a safe and fun event, consistent the guidance from the City of Norwalk and the State of Connecticut and with the best-practices of other recent charity run/walk events. Full safety procedures will be sent to race-day participants. Virtual participants will be emailed a map of the course, the process to submit times (5k participants), and t-shirt pick up times/locations (and medals for category winners).

Please note that in keeping with state guidelines for road races there will be NO IN PERSON REGISTRATION ON RACE DAY. Online registration will remain open until the start time; runners can register at home before arriving at the race site or on their phones there, then check in for their bib and T-shirt. Once on site, everyone is required to wear a mask when they are not physically running (warming up, racing, cooling down).
In addition, we will probably utilize a "rolling start" with small groups of runners crossing the start mats to enable everyone to more easily maintain social distance. After you finish, please keep moving past the line and do not congregate in large groups. Feel free to enjoy the sunset over the Sound - there is plenty of room on the beach to maintain social distance. There will be no post-race awards ceremony; winners will be notified by email and can pick up their medals at Brendan's 101 beginning the next day.

Join us in-person or virtually for a leisurely stroll along the waterfront or for a competitive workout! All participants receive a Greens Ledge Lighthouse t-shirt and winners of each age category receive custom lighthouse medals! One randomly-chosen participant (from both virtual and in-person participants) will win a private family tour of Greens Ledge Lighthouse with one of our Greens Ledge Light Preservation Society Board members.

T-Shirt Pickup Time/Locations: Race Day at Bayley Beach: 4:30pm - 7pm or During Buisiness Hours at Brendan's 101 (101 Rowayton Avenue, Rowayton CT) from September 26th - October 15. Must bring print-out receipt. T-shirts limited to the first 150 entrants.

All proceeds help fund the historical restoration and revitalization of Greens Ledge.
