2022 First Responder 5k Postponed to 2023

Dear runners, 

We're sad to report that the First Responder 5k will not take place this year; we did not receive the minimum amount of entries needed to meet the goal of providing a high-quality race as a means of supporting Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department and Ridgefield Police Benevolent Association. We aim to bring back the race in 2023.

In the meantime, you will receive a separate email where you will tell us what you'd like us to do with your registration feeTransfer. The choices will be:

  • Transfer to Southwest Cafe Margarita 5k on July 30
  • Make a donation on your behalf (split 50/50 between the RPBA and the RVFD)
  • A full refund

Please note that any refund made outside of the registration fee directly to either organization are not refundable. Be on the lookout for the email in the next few days. Thank you for your understanding and we hope to see you out running!

Here Are Your Options:

We'll transfer your entry to the 2022 Southwest Cafe Margarita 5k on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 7PM. Now in it's 16th year, it's the race of the summer where all finishers (of legal drinking age) get a margarita at the finish line! If you want to run the 2023 First Responder 5k you will have to sign up again at that time. Once you pick this option it cannot be undone.

Note that there are no refunds if you select this option and then cannot make the SWC Margarita 5k race for any reason (however, you can defer your entry up as late as July 20, 2022 into the 2023 race if you need to drop out). 

If this option is chosen, we will take your entry fee (not including the card processing fee from Run Sign Up) and donate on your behalf it to both the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department and the Ridgefield Benevolent Association (split 50/50). If you want to run the 2023 you will have to sign up again at that time. Once you pick this option it cannot be undone.

We understand. We hope you can join us next time. You will receive a full refund within 5-7 business days of June 12 (when decisions are due). Once you pick this option it cannot be undone. Be on the lookout for this race in 2023!

Ridgefield's got a brand new race to get you moving:

The First Responder 5k

 

Celebrate the ones that keep us safe with a challenging 5k race that starts at the Ridgefield Fire Station, runs around the Ridgefield Police Department, and ends at East Ridge Middle School.  

With First Responder competitive divisions (both in gear and without gear), as well as civilian divisions, it's bound to be a fun challenge for all. Spectators get to have fun too, with safety displays and "touch a truck" opportunities at the finish line festivities, featuring police and fire trucks and vehicles!

This race will benefit both the Ridgefield Police Benevolent Association and the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department (which is celebrating its 125th anniversary this June!)
