Townspeople! Please take your seats so that we can get this meeting started AND finished as quickly as possible. I have a roast in the oven and I’d like to get home before it completely dries out.
By now you have all received invitations from Lorelai & Sookie to attend the “test run” of The Dragonfly Inn. As their dearest friends and greatest supporters it is our job to help them work through any kinks in policy and procedure before the grand opening of the inn. Let us please all be on our best behavior and help to guarantee success for two of Stars Hollow’s favorite daughters.
While the main event IS the night at The Dragonfly the town is coming together to make this a weekend of celebrations; starting with the first annual “A Night At The Dragonfly – 5K” event sponsored by our very own, Stars Hollow Running Club.
Registration for this event will be $27 for USA and $32 for international participants.
With your registration you will receive a race packet which includes a custom designed 3” medal with sublimated ribbon, a race bib professionally printed on Tyvek material and a tiny token or two from some of Stars Hollow’s favorite sons and daughters. There is also be the option (outside of registration) to purchase custom designed limited edition T-shirts.
As has become custom, we have turned to one of our beloved townspeople to help Stars Hollow Running Club choose the charity that will benefit from the proceeds of their race. For this event it is only logical that Lorelai choose the charity and become the “patron saint” of this event.
For as many years as Lorelai has lived in Stars Hollow she has taken part in caring for travelers. She has given them shelter, put a pillow under their weary heads, fed them and given them something warm to drink on a cold night. She has given comfort to hundreds and hundreds of people visiting out little haven, and what that as her mission in life she has chosen The Winchester Emergency Shelter (Winsted, CT) as the charity partner for this event.
The Winchester Emergency Shelter provides services to homeless families in Northwestern, CT. This includes a warm bed to sleep in, meals to fill empty stomachs and special programs for children. In the winter months this shelter struggles to meet the needs of Connecticut’s homeless. It is our goal to help them (again this year) to give comfort to those who are truly in need.
The suggested run date for this event is November 24th, 2017. Black Friday! Take a moment after your day of being thankful to reflect on the joys of the upcoming season and on all of the things that bring you comfort while your running, walking or even crawling 5K.
As we go forward please remember that you are more than welcome (and encouraged) to break this distance into manageable chunks so that you can run/walk/crawl it as it best suits your fitness level and goals.
Race registration will run between November 3rd and December 4th. Once registration closes race packets will be prepared and sent to you; arriving before the December holidays.
