2021 RACE GUIDELINES

This year our race will follow a number of COVID-19 safety precautions including, but not limited to, the following:

EVENT ADJUSTMENTS

•    In-person capacity limited to 500 runners.  Race will be run with normal 9am horn start for all runners.  Waves have been eliminated.  Please social distance and wear a mask when unable to do so or when             otherwise appropriate.  
•    No spectators
•    Run or walk on the right side of the road except to pass 
•    Runners should arrive in time for a 9am start.
•    Social distance  
•    Online registration through July 1.
•    No in-person or race-day registration
•    Packet pick up on Saturday, July 3 at Sound Runner, Old Saybrook from 10am to Noon and at St. Joseph's Parish, Chester from Noon to 3pm.                                                                                                        •    For safety, runners will leave venue after completing race and completing minimal cool down
•    Runners are encouraged to carry their own bottled water, snacks and hand sanitizer.  Water stops will be along the course and at the finish line.
•    No on-site finish line results board or awards ceremony. Winners to be announced virtually along with award pick-up details
•    In the unlikely event that Connecticut COVID-19 guidelines change and prohibit in-person events, all in-person registrations will automatically be transitioned to the virtual race
•    In-person race registrants can request to transition to the Virtual Race at any time
•    Virtual registrants can run or walk 4 miles at any location and submit times and photos through our website

RACE SAFETY

•    Public Health Experts recommend individuals who are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19 to avoid any in-person gatherings and remain healthy at home. You can see the CDC’s list of populations at high risk here
•    Runners are encouraged to wear face masks when unable to social distance and when otherwise appropriate. Runners may remove mask while actively completing the course.  Free masks will be available.
•    All event staff are encouraged to wear face masks and to take all appropriate COVID - safety precautions for an outdoor event where social distancing may sometimes not be possible.
•    Surface cleaning will take place
•    Hand sanitizer will be available 
•    If staff, volunteers, vendors, sponsors, or participants become ill during the event, they must report to the onsite medical team and move to isolation if necessary
•    Pets are not allowed.
•    Families or members of your household are welcome to run together, otherwise please run solo
•    While strollers and assistive devices are welcome, please proceed with caution
•    Participants, staff, volunteers, essential vendors and sponsors will be asked to self-screen and stay home for any of the following reasons:
•    Have been in contact with someone testing positive for COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to the event
•    Is experiencing or has experienced COVID-19 symptoms in the 14 days prior to the event
•    Have been in contact with someone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms in the 14 days prior to the event
•    Have a body temperature reading of 100.4°F or higher.
•    All participants and especially at-risk persons are encouraged to consult a physician prior to participating
