Covid 19 Guidelines

Clermont Freedom 5K

We are excited to be working with the City of Clermont while watching for directives from the CDC as well as state and county officials for live group events. As of now, it looks like we will be having a live race in a new format and under new guidelines on July 4th, 2020. However, in these ever changing times, we recommend you familiarize yourself with FloDash Events refund policy in the event the Clermont Freedom 5K is switched to an all virtual race as well as review up to date  CDC Guidellines.

The Covid 19 virus has encouraged us to look at the current practices and procedures for the sanitation of our races and to put things in place that will help to keep the participants, volunteers and staff healthy. These practices will minimize physical interaction between racers, and racers and staff/volunteers. All staff, volunteers and participants will be required to sign a mandatory declaration of health, please familiarize yourself with this document under the Covid 19 section of this page.

We will be reducing the touch points at packet pickup and increasing the duration of this process to encourage distancing.  Packet pickup will be conducted at the front or back of Dash Sports in Downtown Clermont, and should it take place inside the store,  we will distance participants 6 feet apart.  Final instructions will be emailed and posted for participants to see prior to the event.

We will have hand sanitizer stations at the start and finish and gloves, masks and hand sanitizer will be available to staff and volunteers at all times.

To manage the number of people on the starting line and course, participants will be assigned to time corrals. Upon registration, they will choose their preferred start time within 5 mins and will start 6-8 participants at a time each minute (40 people each 5 min).  Your time will start when you cross the starting line and stop when you cross the finish line. There will be a maximum of 500 participants allowed to register for the Clermont Freedom 5k.

Regarding the Finish line, we will be cancelling our post race party, yet providing our participants with a delicious pre-packaged to go snack to avoid crowding. No spectators will be allowed to wait at the finish line unless they are a parent or a guardian of a minor participating in the event. We cordially ask our runners to please communicate this with their friends and family so we may execute a fun yet safe event for all.

There will be awards for each 10 year age group starting at 10 and under and up to 70+, but there will not be an awards ceremony. Awards will be announced via Facebook live once the event has ended and winners will have the choice to come back to pick up their awards at Dash Sports during the week or have it mailed to them.

We will not have aid stations on the 5k course.  Participants are encouraged to carry their own water.  Pre and post race fluids will be distributed in sealed bottles and delivered by volunteers wearing gloves.

All participants, volunteers and staff will be required to complete a declaration of health stating that they are not infected, have not had or been in contact with someone experiencing any Covid 19 symptoms in the past 14 days: cough, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat or new loss of taste of smell.
