Description

CANCELATION NOTICE:

Thank you for your support of the Furry 5K as well as your patience as we have continued to consult with Fusion Racing and monitor safety guidance from state and federal officials regarding the future of events amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Initially, we had planned to postpone the race to a summer or fall date. However, with the uncertainty that continues to surround what events can and should be held through the end of the year, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Furry 5K. Ensuring the safety of our participants is paramount.

As you can imagine, this is a huge blow for the Coalition for Animal Rescue and Education - CARE - of Delaware and the local animal rescue organizations that the Furry 5K supports. In the past two years, we have raised more than $25,000 for organizations that provide life-saving care for animals in need.

With the coronavirus pandemic upending the work of all animal rescue organizations throughout the state, your support is needed now more than ever. So, while we unfortunately must cancel the race, the donation button will remain live on this page in case you are in a position to keep helping our community's animals during this pandemic.

And SAVE THE DATE: May 8, 2021, for the next FURRY 5K!

Stay safe and sane, everyone!
💞🐾🙏

Join us for the 3rd Annual Furry 5K, sponsored by the Coalition for Animal Rescue and Education of Delaware (CARE)!

All race proceeds go to support animal rescue efforts in the Delaware area. To date, the event has raised more than $25,000 for local organizations to provide critical medical care, socialization, nurturing, food and fostering for animals rescued from numerous situations -- including unthinkable cruelty, hoarding and natural disasters.

Past beneficiaries include the Delaware SPCA; Senior Dog Haven & Hospice; 3 Palms Zoo; and Brandywine Valley SPCA.

This year, we're excited to announce a new location, Olan Thomas Park, where the course runs along the scenic White Clay Creek!

Sign up today to run or walk -- or donate to a very worthy cause using the button above. See you May 9! Until then, check out last year's photos to get into the spring of things!
