I KICKED BREAST CANCER'S ASS!

Screaming that never gets old. It's been over 3 years since I was first diagnosed, and I just got another all-clear from the doctors. My journey sounds familiar because breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women. What started as a normal week leading up to Mother’s Day turned into the most chaotic and scariest phase of my life.

It took less than 2 weeks to go from a mammogram to a biopsy to genetic testing and diagnosis. Due to the CHEK2 genetic variant, I am at double the lifetime risk of breast cancer and a substantially higher risk for ovarian cancer. So I said goodbye to all my lady bits and never looked back. The whole process was emotional. The best way to describe my everyday was "crisis-mode."

Huge hugs to those who showed up, sent food/gifts, provided rides, washed my hair, changed bandages, and just checked in. I felt the love and will forever remember your kindness. Today, I am celebrating 3 years of being cancer-free. I truly believe I am here because I can make a difference.

My friends and I are getting excited for the 2024 Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer taking place on September 28-29. I’ll be honest, I was lucky to finish the first 2 years, but I’m here to do the hard things. Believe me, it really was uphill both ways
