Gravel Gallop 5K: Benefiting the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation

The Kilpatrick family is at it again! We will be participating in IRONMAN Lake Placid on July 22nd, 2018 as part of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Team For Cures for the second year in a row! The work ahead of us? Race 140.6 miles (2.4 mile swim / 112 mile bike / 26.2 mile run) on one of the toughest/hilliest Ironman courses in the world, and more importantly, raise at least $10,000 for the MMRF. Training for this event for the second year in a row is a big challenge, but nothing compared to the challenges faced by patients with Multiple Myeloma.

Race director Katie's mom is a survivor currently battling multiple myeloma, the second most common form of blood cancer with one of the lowest five-year relative survival rates of all cancers. But while there is no cure, great progress is being made due to the work of the MMRF! The MMRF is one of the most highly regarded cancer foundations in the world. An outstanding 90% of the total MMRF budget goes directly towards research and related programming. This has led to TEN new treatments and FOUR in the past 18 months - treatments that are helping Katie's mom each day!

We are hosting this race with the purpose of raising as much money as possible to find a cure for Multiple Myeloma. All donations are appreciated!

Thank you!!!

-Katie and Sean
