Macomb Children's Hands On Museum (Sprint to the Finish)
It began with a race -The childrens science center movement began in 2010 with a pair of volunteers looking to help the community recover from the Great Recession of 2008.
The two volunteers were setting up a half marathon event in Downtown Mt Clemens MI, when they came upon the idea. Convincing each other first how important a children's science center would be for the community, the two volunteers began to inspire others to share their vision.
Enthusiasm for the project spread quickly. A small group of dedicated volunteers and elected officials assembled to form a Non Profit 501 C 3. Generous donors funded the "First Forty Campaign". Supporters of the Macomb Children's Hands on Museum have been raising funds ever since. The Museum has operated for many years with mobile exhibits thru a campaign known as MWOW "Museum Without Walls".
The Macomb Children's Hands on Museum has now found a permanent home and is located at 70 Macomb Place Mt. Clemens MI.
Your donation thru RunSignUp will help the museum raise capital for the Grand Opening. Additional funding opportunities and exhibit sponsorships are also available.
With a permanent home secured and renovations about to begin, now is the perfect time for the running community to once again flex it's muscle for a great cause and raise money for the Children of Southeast MI.
Donations are voluntary and separate from race entry fees. Donations are directly deposited with Macomb Children's Hands On Museum.
