Description

The Crown Point Pumpkin Patch Dash is an Oktoberfest 5K around the beautiful 115-acre historic farm property of the Crown Point Ecology Center.  The course takes runners and walkers through the scenic area of the Ecology Center on the property’s roads, grassy and woodland trails and around the Our Lady of the Elms high school track.  Race starts at 9:00 a.m.

Before the 5K, kids can participate in the One-Mile Pumpkin Run.  The fun run goes through the beautiful farm area over obstacles and ends in the pumpkin patch where each child gets to pluck a pumpkin. Parents of children running may run with their child for no additional charge.  One mile pumpkin runners bring their plucked pumpkin back to the big red Century barn for decorating and other supervised fun fall activities as parents race.

The 5k Run/Walk begins at 9 a.m.

The 1-Mile Run begins at 8:30 a.m.

Packet pickup begins at 7 a.m.

Gather up everyone you know to be on your team. Participants can do either the 5k, 1-mile, or the Virtual run/walk. Each team member signs up individually for their event and can create/join a team when registering for the event. Get your friends and/or co-workers together, come up with a unique team name, and come on out! Team members must cross the finish line at the race to count! Virtual members must turn in their completion of event by Friday, October 27 at 5pm.

Your team leader should create the team and then you can choose it from the dropdown list of existing teams so that no spelling errors occur! Select a team from the dropdown menu or create your own team.

FIT FACT:

RUNNERS - Did you know: winter squash is great for you!  They provide cards and energy for recovery and offer a great source of beta carotene, the antioxidant that the body converts into vitamin A.  Beta carotene may also help athletic performance by reducing the oxidative stress and damage to muscle.  Winter squash is also a good source of potassium, fiber and vitamin C.  Pumpkin seeds are filled with magnesium, a mineral that must be replenished during strenuous exercise to support peak performance.

Pumpkins and winter squash are both for sale at the center on race day.  And winner might win some. Crown Point is a working organic and permaculture farm with woods, meadows, ponds and wetlands with miles of beautiful hiking trails – a perfect place for a run!  The centerpiece of the property is a big, red Century Barn. It is a magnificent 115-acre historic property -- the highest point in Bath and the core of pioneer settler Jason Hammond’s acreage.

Explore the farm, checkout the frog cob pizza oven.  Interested in straw bale building?  Sign up to volunteer on our straw bale house building project in the afternoon. For more information please visit: http://www.crownpt.org or call Sean Fremon at 330-351-2525 or Ellen Otto at 330-668-8992.
