Ultrafit-USA has teamed up with a local non-profit who is tackling the addiction crisis. As opioid-related deaths skyrocket across the country, Ohio has more than our share of these tragedies. Heroin and opioid overdose deaths are now the leading cause of death for Ohio residents under the age of 55. At a rate of 32.9 deaths per 100,000 people, Ohio is among the top five states with the highest rates of opioid-related overdose deaths, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Here in Columbus the crisis spills over and leads to homelessness, children in the foster care system and human trafficking.
We have teamed up with “Garrett Recovery” for our Freeze Your Fanny event. GR works tirelessly to help these woman once again be productive members of our community. GR is located on the West side of Columbus which is the area that sees the worst of the crisis in Franklin County. Garrett Recovery offers safe, secure and supportive sober living and recovery and also offers a drop-in center that provides clothing, meals, health care and support for the women of the streets who continue to struggle with addiction.
The west side of Columbus is an underserved area of our city as well as the most hard hit in Central Ohio. It has very few safe & secure places that focus on WOMEN ONLY. Our chosen beneficiaries are attempting to meet the needs of these lost women, but they need our help. If you are able to provide a donation, know that every dollar helps.
You may make a monetary donation here, bring cash or check to the race and also donate items of need. For your generosity and assistance, bring any of the following items or make a monetary donation for our charitable partner, Garrett Recovery & you will be automatically entered to win a free Ultrafit-USA race entry for any of our events in 2020.
Items of current need: Travel size hygiene products, deodorant, individual wet wipes , feminine wipes, new or gently sneakers, boots, coats, bras, underwear & jeans/leggings and ready to serve meals like chicken salad/crackers and any small snack items and finally backpacks, purses and draw string nylon bag backpack carriers (often issued as swag bags at races).
Thank you for your support; together we are stronger and together we can make a difference.
