Advancing Hope: Our Commitment to Breast Cancer Research
American Cancer Society research programs have played a role in many of the advances that save lives from breast cancer today, from the efficacy of mammography to targeted therapies. Today's research investments are tomorrow's breast cancer treatments.
The American Cancer Society is at the forefront of the fight against breast cancer. Currently, we invest more than $133 million in groundbreaking breast cancer research, making us the primary private nonprofit funder in this critical field. Since our inception, we have committed over $600 million to understanding, preventing, and treating breast cancer.
The impact of our research is profound. The death rate from breast cancer has dropped by an incredible 44% since 1989, thanks to:
- Earlier detection through increased awareness
- Widespread mammography screening
- Innovative and targeted treatment advances
Help us continue this life-saving mission. Together, we can turn research into hope, and hope into healing.
