The mission of Transitions Family Violence Services is to build safe and healthy families by supporting healthy, violence free family life. Transitions is the sole provider of comprehensive domestic violence and anti-human trafficking services in Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and co-provider for York County for over 45 years. All services are free and confidential; the agency offers a 24/7 crisis hotline, emergency shelter program, children’s program, legal advocacy program, and a counseling program that includes adult and child individual counseling, adult and child art therapy, and support groups. Transitions offers a host of services that prevent violence, save lives, and make the community more aware of domestic violence and its deleterious effects on the family. In FY 2023 Transitions offered 5,722 nights of shelter to individuals and families impacted by violence and provided advocacy services to over 700 adult and youth victims of violence. All victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and their family members are eligible for services and are met with trauma informed and survivor driven support. Transitions Family Violence Services strives to be a pathway to safety and a source of hope for the community.
