Forever 5 & 10 Milers

Donation Goal: $2,000

Let's make an effort to #LeaveItBetter

It seems like there are more trails than there are people to take care of them.  The USFS, NPS, and other municipalities are battling to keep their staff positions filled and that leaves a lot of maintenance issues unattended.  There are many trails that have been lost to time and we don't want more added to that list.

Trails don’t maintain themselves and this is an opportunity to give back and keep them from being lost; Yearly, Mountain Junkies puts in 100+ hours taking care of local trails.  Not only is this work done on the trails we use for our races but also neglected trails in the National Forest. We have an abundance of great trails in the “backcountry” that are being taken back by nature.  These trails, with a little help, can be brought back to life.  That is one of the goals of this donation effort. Keep up with the work we are doing here.  We are trying to update this page with the work that we are putting in. Reasons to not do work

  • I don't like your fresh air, too fresh
  • I have a "daylight savings time hangover"
  • I'm already engaged in virtual trail work
  • I get lost easily
  • The newest season of _______ just came out
  • I can barely use scissors without injury

What will your money go towards;

  • Certifications -  US Forest Service Sawyer, CPR, First Aid
    • Recertified August of 2021, for another 3 year certification.
  • Equipment - new purchases, fuel and the maintenance
    • We've added new clippers, handsaws, hedge trimmers, chainsaw, and leaf blower from previous donations.
    • We are trying to acquire enough equipment to have formal workdays

What will you get;

  • The feeling of giving to a great effort
  • You will be added to a trail maintenance email list where;
    • we will keep you informed on the work that is done so that you can be a part of it and verify we aren’t just using your money to participate in travel or races.
      • And you can opt to join in on the workdays.
      • We have opened up Sawmill Branch Trail in Carvins Cove
      • We have created the Mountain Junkies Trail Club within the USFS to log our hours and workdays.
      • We have taken on the maintenance of the 5 mile Forever section of the Glenwood Horse Trail.
      • We are trying to maintain the ridgeline from Stone Coal Gap to Patterson Creek Road
        • Broad Run
        • Price Mtn
          • Kelly Trail
    • we will show you the classes that have to be taken to keep certifications current
      • Chainsaw, CPR, First Aid, AED
        • Recertified 2021, for another 3 year certification.
    • Any new tools or power equipment that is purchased
