Event: Individual Half Iron Triathlon

SWIM START INFORMATION- The swim is a wave start from just outside the swim area at the dam end. The course will be a two loop rectangle finishing on the beach of the swim area. Swimmers will STAY IN WATER TO COMPLETE LOOP ONE. EXIT ONLY AT END OF SECOND LOOP. Keep buoys to your Right. Follow flagging to transition area. Water temp approx. 73.

BIKE COURSE- Bike course is shaped like a "T". Ride starts from the bottom for first and last 7 miles and completes two loops of the top for a total of 56 miles. Two water bottle exchanges at 22 & 43 miles.

RUN Course- The run is a scenic route through the TVA park, right on Woodlawn Road to left on Buttermilk, (Cones will mark course side of road – stay near cones to avoid cars). Follow to left on Davis Road to turnaround at Rocky Top Road. Return back same route to first loop turnaround just inside park. Runners will pass 14 aid stations on the two-loop course. Each will be will be ready with Base Performance, oranges, Hammer Gel, pretzels, water and ice. Race number will be marked at the three turn-arounds.

PACKET PICKUP & LATE REGISTRATION- PICTURE ID REQUIRED Saturday, Oct. 1st - 5:30 PM - 7 PM at race site - see race location below. Sunday - Race morning from 6 AM to 7:15 AM - at race site. Registration is open race morning! Relays MUST come together to pick-up packets - no exceptions. Bring USAT card & photo ID.

The 21st annual Atomic Man is Tennessee's original half iron distance and part of the ATOMIC WEEKEND along with the Atomic Olympic / Sprint Triathlon & Duathlon. 2022 celebrates the 22nd year of the event that has won praises from athletes, spectators and officials as one of the best half iron distance races in the Eastern US. Awards 3 deep in 5 year age groups, Finishers Medal & apparel, packet includes hooded sweat shirts, custom socks & more.

Race date & time: Sunday, October 2 - 7:30 AM EST start - Note: we are instituting "cut off times" for the safety of participants, volunteers and support staff - limits noted are from the start of final starter: swim 1:15, bike 5:15 hours, run 1/2 way point 7:15 - finish line, music, etc. will be in place for all finishers - venue tear-down may begin depending on severe weather forecast, as in 2014. Safety is our first priority.

PACKET PICKUP & LATE REGISTRATION - USAT LICENSE & PICTURE ID REQUIRED Pickup will be on Saturday October 1st from 5-7pm plus race morning from 6 AM to 7:15 AM at race site.

RACE LOCATION - The TVA Melton Hill Recreation Area is located outside Lenoir City, TN just off Hwy 321/95. The race site is about 30 miles West of Knoxville. From I-40 exit #364 towards Oak Ridge approximately 1/2 mile to park entrance on your RIGHT Look for ESM banner! The three large parking lots are 1.3 miles into the park on the left before the dam. Camping on site with hot showers!

USAT Info: ALL USAT RULES APPLY – Atomic Man Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned event. USAT officials will referee the event.
All Endurance Sports Management triathlon events are sanctioned by USA Triathlon. When a race sanctions with USAT, it is required for each participant to purchase either a one-day license or annual membership in order to participate in said event. A one-day USAT license is $15 and an annual USAT membership is $50. Either can be purchased when signing up for the event. A youth one day or annual USAT license is $10. Age Groups and Awards: Overall awards for the top three male and female finishers & top three male and female masters. Age group awards for first, second, and third place in the following M & F age groups: 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45- 49, 50-55, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over & top 3 Clydesdale & Athena. Open Relay Division: Male, Female, and Co-ed.
Camping / Hotels /Restaurants - Melton Hill Campground is adjacent to transition. Reserve on-line here now. Lenoir City hotels number over 15 and restaurants about the same are just 5 miles away. National chains and local choices make getting some rest & grub easy!
Athlete Amenities - race packets will include: heavy hooded sweatshirt, ESM water bottle, ESM swim cap (must be worn). FINISHER MEDALS & other gift (we've done shirts, visors & such in past) for all finishers. Post race food & door prizes from sponsors to be announced.
Endurance Sports Management has enabled event insurance for your consideration in the event you are unable to compete. Please review this option during the registration process.
Endurance Sports Management has a NO REFUND policy. Insurance is available during the registration of each event. Please take advantage of this option should you wish to insure your entry fees.
Event Cancellation / Modification Policy - If Natural Disaster or Community Disaster occurs, our action steps are as follows:
1. Endurance Sports Management in concert with local officials will make decisions based on safety first. 2. Courses and/or race segments will be altered as agreed to between Endurance Sports Management and local officials 3. Financial: It is not financially feasible for Endurance Sports Management to accept the risk of a disaster for everyone. Each registered participant needs to accept the risk of his or her entry fee. There will be NO REFUNDS or free entries to future races. The money you paid is spent developing the subject event. 4. Endurance Sports Management does not save any money if one of our events has to be canceled for reasons beyond our control. All supplies and services needed for the events are purchased and/or arranged in advance. All event supplies and services associated with that event must be paid for, regardless of the outcome.
Event Shirts - Event shirts are NOT guaranteed to participants registering within 2 weeks of each event. Please register prior to 2 weeks prior to guarantee your race shirt.
