IF there is ever a bucket list 5k, this should be the one. This run is truly an experience on so many levels. Gaining nearly 1400' of elevation is an accomplishment during a 5k. However this run is about so much more. Starting in downtown Gatlinburg you will run past some of the businesses that have helped for this mountain town an amazing tourist destination. Turning up Ski Mountain Road you will run past some areas that were destroyed by the wildfires of November 2016 and get a sense for how close we came to loosing more of this great city. This humbling experience leads you into part of Chalet Village which for so many people is how they spend their mountain getaway. Before long you notice a Buckberry Branch, a beautiful mountain stream winding right beside the road. The finish is at Ober Gatlinburg which is a fantastic mountain playground for all seasons. Plan on staying at Ober for a while to enjoy some of the fun they offer and either cheer for or participate in the Silver Cloud Trail Run.
