RACE DESCRIPTION
Runners and walkers alike will enjoy the sun and sand at their feet for this Jimmy Buffett-themed beach 5K and Fun Run! You'll enjoy the sounds of the surf from the "World's Most Famous Beach" and great Trop Rock Music while you bring your best Parrothead-themed hats and attire for our morning race. A portion of the race proceeds benefits the Marine Science Center and its efforts to help sea turtle rehabilitation. It's fins up following the race at LandShark Bar & Grill for the awards ceremony where you'll enjoy food, fun, and a complimentary beverage...because it's always 5 'o clock somewhere!

COVID GUIDELINES

The COVID 19 pandemic has forced us to make a few event format changes and to put safeguards in place for everyone’s comfort and safety.  Participant and volunteer peace of mind and safety is paramount in our planning and execution. We ask that everyone maintain a 6-foot distance throughout the event. All non-participants/supporters attending must remain off the beach. They may view their runner from the safety of LandShark Bar and Grill or anywhere inland side of the beach wall divider while maintaining a 6-foot distance from others.

All event staff will be utilizing the safety of masks and gloves. Participants are required to wear a mask pre and post-race. Hand sanitizer will be provided at multiple locations throughout the registration/water stations. Runners are encouraged to wear masks as often as possible throughout their registration and pre-race start period. Bathrooms are available along with parking at Sunsplash Park located next to LandShark Bar and Grill.

If you have tested positive or recovered from COVID 19, have been exposed to COVID, have been medically quarantined within 14-days leading up to the Race, feel feverish, or have a current fever, you will be unable to participate.

Anyone who would like to donate any amount of money besides their entry fee may do so upon pre-registering. All donations and a portion of the proceeds go to THE MARINE SCIENCE CENTER.

FINISHER MEDALS
All participants receive a finisher medal upon completion of the event

DAY OF REGISTRATION & PACKET PICK UP
Packet pickup will take place on race day at the race site from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 am

DAY OF EVENT SCHEDULE
8 am – Registration Opens
9 am – Race Start
10:15 am – Awards Ceremony at LandShark Bar & Grill

TEE SHIRTS
T-shirt size is guaranteed for participants that have registered by September 19th, 2021. Otherwise, requested shirt sizes are available while supplies last. 

AWARDS
Top overall male and female and top 3 male and female age groups will receive awards. Age groups include 14 & under, 15-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 & over  

PARKING
Parking is available next to the race start location, at the LandShark Bar & Grill parking lot. Parking is also plentiful directly next door to LandShark Bar & Grill at the Sun Splash Park Parking lot located at 611 South Atlantic Ave. In addition, bathrooms are available at the south side of Sun Splash Park as well as LandShark Bar & Grill.

TIMING & SCORING
The race will be timed and scored with a disposable chip provided, which will be attached to the back of the bib   

FAQ
When and where does the race take place?
Saturday, October 2nd, 2021. The racecourse begins on the beach in front of LandShark Bar & Grill. Registration opens at 8 am. Race start time is promptly 9 am. 

How long is the course?              
The 5K is 3.1 miles.

How will I be timed?  
The race uses an electronic timing system that records race time and place via a transponder chip that will be given out at registration. Each individual competing in the 5K is required to use the race chip. Official times will not be recorded without a chip. There will be a clock at the finish line to view your time.

When and where do I pick up my registration materials?
Registration starts at 8 am for all participants – pre-registered, walk-up, voucher – Pre-registered runners have a separate registration station that is further split into three lines based on the first letter of the runner’s last name. Walk-Up registration is based on availability.

How will I receive my results?
Official results are posted for the top runners in each category, race staff has all results for on-site inquiries and results are posted on the race website. 

Can I use my own race chip or tag rather than utilizing the one that is provided?
No, we are not equipped to utilize individuals’ personal chips or tags for this year's race.     

Who gets a T-shirt?
Only pre-registered runners that complete the registration and payment processes seven weekdays before the race are guaranteed a free race t-shirt. Several hundred additional shirts are printed for the race. Pre-registered runners in the seven days leading up to the race are first to receive their shirt and preferred size based on their availability. The remaining shirts for walk-up and voucher runners are available for free until they run out. Also, day-of and voucher participants may face limited sizes and availability.

Can I participate in the event with my dog?
Sorry, as much as we love our pets too, the safety of participants is our main concern. Therefore, we do not allow pets on the course.

Can I participate with a stroller?
Yes, nurturing future generations of runners is a priority and demonstrating healthy lifestyles to our kids is special. Please, however, start in the latter part of the runners.  

What do I do with my personal items while I’m running?
You can leave your items at a drop-off station, located near the start line.  Look for the "Gear Tent" sign near the registration booth.  

Should I bring my own water?
No, water stations are available on the course. One at the halfway mark and one at the finish line.

How do I register?
You may register online (preferred method). Go to RunSignUp.com. In-person registration is available on the beach in front of LandShark Bar & Grill. Both cash and checks are accepted only for the day of registration.

How much does it cost?
Early registration is $30.00 per person until September 2nd, $35.00 from September 3rd - September 24th, $40.00 from September 25th - October 2nd.

I will be out of town on race day and not able to participate. Can I get my money returned?
We appreciate your race registration. As the race brochure states, we are unable to issue refunds. We are not in a position to credit your credit card or issue checks. 

Will the race be held if it's raining?
The race is a "rain or shine" event. All participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, such as in a raincoat or hat. Umbrellas can pose a safety hazard to others, so please do not bring them.  

What will be provided after the race?
An awards ceremony will take place after the race at LandShark Bar & Grill and each participant will receive a complimentary Small beer.

Can I transfer my entry to someone else?
We have a strict NO TRANSFER policy.
