The Swift Pumpkin Run

We are excited to announce the 2021 Youth 5K race, The Swift Pumpkin Run, for children ages 5-18--and we're going virtual again this fall! Participants have the option to run or walk at a location of their choice--whether that's your home, neighborhood, or favorite route. Put on your running shoes, bring a friend, and set off for a course of your choosing. Runners will need to use a mobile app for tracking the time it takes to finish the 3.1 miles of the 5K run. This 1-day event allows students to remain safe while still enjoying the race. All proceeds will support youth programs offered at Lake-Sumter State College.

This year, we will also set up "Start Line" and "Finish Line" markers for runners who choose to start at LSSC's Leesburg campus and complete their run around Silver Lake. Runners will be free to use this track at any time throughout the day. 

You can complete your run, walk or jog at any time during the day but remember, you will need to complete the distance at one time or in "one go". Run in the morning, afternoon, or any time you want. This is your chance to plan your run around your schedule and the weather. No need to run in the rain! We encourage virtual runners to wear their 5K shirt, customized race bib, support other participants on social media and bring the same energy they would to any race. You can also download Strava or any other app to document your 5K time.

All registered participants will receive:

• Customized race bib for download
• Personalized finisher's certificate for download
• $5 coupon code for participation in LSSC Runs! Spring Youth 5K

If you purchase a Race Package, you will also receive: 

• Commemorative race T-shirt *
• Custom Finisher's medal *

Participants can submit their time virtually in RunSignUp to be entered in a prize drawing. All submissions must be entered by 7:00 p.m. EST.
