RACE UPDATE:  RACE WILL BE VIRTUAL

Registration Cost:  $15.00

CHANGES TO RACE-  The race was originally planned to be a celebration of running and of donuts, because why not combine the best things in life.  Unfortunately, the race remained in limbo due to COVID-19 and we also lost our donut sponsor in the midst of the lockdown.  However on Oct 15, we were notified that we could in fact move forward with the race as the county lifted the restrictions on local sporting events.  Enthused once again that we would hold the race, we were then notified that our insurance company is not yet ready to resume insuring such events.  After a week or so of trying to find another sports event insurer, we were left with no choice but to cancel the physical race event and move it online.  As a VIRTUAL RACE, much of the social fun and comradery of the physical race will be missing on Sunday.  But if you should happen to choose to run your own 5k at Blanchard Park on Sunday morning of Oct 25 at around 8am-9am, you will find donuts waiting for you near Pavillion 2 where we usually setup for our races.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE -

  1. Register for the race.
  2. Complete a 5k (3.1 mi) course on your own or with friends and family.
  3. You must complete the race by midnight Sunday October 25.
  4. Email us your name and your completion time at delizrunning@gmail.com (and send us any pictures you have of you and yours on your run)
  5. We will publish the results on Monday morning October 26 - with any pictures we receive.
  6. Every Registered participant will receive a commemorative finisher's medal and a runners bib by mail in about one week after the race.
  7. Top three runners in each age category will also receive an additional 1st,2nd, 3rd place medal.
  8. WHAT ABOUT THE DONUTS?  If you decide to still come to Blanchard Park on Sunday Oct. 25 you will find Mike Deliz, founder of Deliz Running, with a table full of donuts for you to enjoy.

About Us

Deliz Running was founded with the express purpose of returning 5k racing to its affordable roots.  We strongly believe a 5k race should be accessible to all and should serve as an introduction to competitive running and a training ground for those who want to make running part of their lifestyle.  A quality course,  with performance awards, at the most affordable price we can manage.

The Race Course

Our standard race course follows the Little Econ River along the Greenway Trail.  The race begins in Blanchard Park directly in front of Pavilion 2 and heads west out of the park for 1.55 miles to the turn-around point, before heading back to the starting line.  The turn around spot is about 150 yards after the wooden Horseshoe Bridge and about 15 feet before the water fountain on the right side of the trail.  The 3.1 mile course is tree lined with plenty of shady spots all along the Little Econ river bank.   The race course is mostly flat and fully paved with only a couple of slight rises, with the wooden Horseshoe Bridge providing a brief change of running surface.

Jay Blanchard Park is located at 2451 N. Dean Road in Orlando, FL.
