Description
As International Justice Mission (IJM) and Public Interest Law Students Association (PILSA) on Florida State University's campus, we are partnering with The Big Bend Coalition Against Human Trafficking (BBCAHT) and hosting a 5K race in which the proceeds will benefit The Porch Light, a safe home for adolescent victims of sex trafficking.
The Porch Light is an in-state safe home for adolescent female victims of sex trafficking. They provide shelter, attend to medical, physical,and emotional needs, have trauma-informed counseling, and an environment that promotes healing and restoration. This safe home is at an undisclosed location for the protection and security of the victims, and is staffed by a director, mental health counselor and female caregivers.
As FSU's chapter of IJM, we not only want to make a difference internationally with our advocacy and efforts for human rights, but we want to promote change and healing domestically. That is why ALL proceeds will go to this in-state nonprofit.
Please join us as we walk/run to support this organization that is so valuable and so needed. You CAN make a difference in these girls' lives.
T-Shirts will be guaranteed to each participant if they are signed up by 01/06/2017.
