Description

Celebrate America's birthday by running a 5k or 10k!

On July 7th, we're hosting the 2ND ANNUAL Independence Run, a running event to celebrate the 243rd birthday of the United States of America!

This is a 5k walk/run and 10k run.  Both events are timed and every bib will have a timing chip.  Finishers get a race t-shirt, and a custom medal.  If you've ever ran one of our races, then you know our medals are AWESOME!

This course utilizes the Al Lopez Park large and small loop.

What do I get?

Every finisher will receive a medal, t-shirt, an opportunity to interact with local sponsors, and an epic great time.

  • A custom medal (image to be posted at a later date).
  • Race t-shirt.
  • A race packet with awesome patriotic memorabilia!
  • Free access to race photos.
  • A certified time.
  • Food for purchase!
  • Face painters!

What's Allowed?

  • Strollers and wheelchairs are allowed on this course, but participants MUST stay to the right of the path to allow for passers.
  • Service animals.
  • Headphones are authorized, but we ask that you keep to a volume that allows you to hear race and park officials.

What's NOT Allowed?

  • Pets (except certified service animals).
  • Double-wide (or wider) strollers.  At some points on the course, the path isn't wide enough for three adults.
  • Skateboards, bicycles, tricycles, skates, etc...
  • Bandits. If you're not wearing a bib at the finish line, you won't get a medal!

Registration

There will be NO RACE DAY REGISTRATIONS!  Our timing company pulls the last list of runners at midnight prior to race day morning.  Registration for this event ends at 11:59pm on July 6th.

Last July, we had a GREAT TIME!  These runners celebrated America's birthday "running style"!  Check out the video, and be sure to sign up soon before prices increase!

National Anthem Performer

We're having a live performer at the event to sing the National Anthem. Stay tuned for more information on the singer.

Course Map

The course utilizes the Al Lopez Park loops (both large and small loops). This is a TIMED event. Runners must run the course in the correct order.  5k runners will run the BIG LOOP first and finish with the SMALL LOOP second.  10k runners will repeat this sequence TWICE!!!!  (BIG LOOP, SMALL LOOP, BIG LOOP, SMALL LOOP). This is how the timing mats are programmed.

***Runners who do not run the course in the right order will not have a certified time!  If you run it incorrectly, there will be nothing we can do to fix your time.***

Pre-Race Packet Pickup

We'll have more information on pre-race packet pickup at a later date.  We'll make this announcement via social media and emails to registrants.

Parking

When you enter the park, you can park your vehicle in the parking lot immediately to your left, or continue straight and park in the main lot (recommended).  The START line is in the main parking lot.

Military Discount Available

For 2019, we've increased the discount for military service members and veterans from 15% to 20%. We support the U.S. Armed Forces, and we want to give back.

If you're a military service member, reservist, or a veteran of the U.S. military, you get a 20% discount on your registration. To qualify for this discount, you'll be required to show one of the following forms of identification to the volunteers at the registration tent. Without these documents, you will be banned from future NeoEndurance races.

  1. Military CAC ID (must not say "Civilian" or "Contractor")
  2. Retiree ID Card
  3. Veteran Affairs ID Card
  4. Driver's License with "V" symbol.

A DD-214 alone is not sufficient without photo identification that matches your document.  You'll be asked to show one of the above forms of ID when you pick up your bib packet. Use the promo code MILITARY20 at checkout.

Form a Group

Group Feature will be available on January 1st, 2019.

The group feature is a great way to get all your friends to run at a discounted price.  The set-up is very simple.  To get started, click on the "Groups" tab at the top of this page.  Group member pays the fees at the discounted price during registration.

If a team isn't created already, you'll need to create one during registration.  For more information on creating a team, click here.  If a team is already created, you can select the team when you register for the event.

Remember, you must have at least 5 runners identified before forming a group.

***Important!!  A password is needed to join the group.  If you don't have a password, contact the creator of the group! (Group pricing CANNOT be combined with any other discount)***

This feature will end on June 8th. After this date, all runners will be required to register individually at regular price.

Questions?
Weather

This is a rain or shine event.  We don't anticipate a drastic change in temperature.  It is, after-all, the "Sunshine State".  However, in the unusual circumstance that this event is cancelled due to extreme weather (hurricane or heavy unrelenting downpour), there will be NO REFUND! Instead, the event will be rescheduled to the next available weekend.

In the event of lightening in the area, we will postpone the event by an hour, possibly longer, or until the "all-clear" is given by park and race officials.
