Description

Participate in a virtual 5k to raise funds for Creature Comfort Connections!

In 2020 Erin See, a passionate animal rights activist and vegan reached out to Chynah Boise, a passionate clinician specialized in foster care and complex trauma. Erin proposed an idea that day, wondering if there was currently programming in place that connected rescue and sanctuary animals with children in foster care. Two populations of at risk, disenfranchised, but amazing beings- brought together in the hope of providing one another with comfort and companionship.

Since this initial conversation, two more amazing women were brought on board, more research was done, and a new resource was born. Creature Comfort Connections aims to facilitate sponsorship opportunities for children in foster care so that they can be connected with a rescue animal. Our organization will cover the costs of sponsorships and support the children and animals in being connected.

Creature Comfort Connections (CCC) merges financial and service resources to benefit children in the foster care system and resident farm animals of reputable not-for-profit sanctuaries who have been rescued from abuse or neglect. Through charitable funds and volunteer efforts, children in the foster system will be provided the benefit of symbolic animal adoptions or sponsorships as well as the therapeutic benefits of connection, empathy, and supervised interaction with their rescue animals in some cases.

While adoptive and sponsored connections are different from the relationships forged between children and traditional domestic pets, we believe they offer impactful and unique benefits to the child. Participating children receive the tangible benefits of photographs, certificates of sponsorship, and update letters, as well as in-person visits to the sanctuaries and/or their sponsored rescue animal when possible. The rescue animals and their sanctuaries will receive the benefit of monetary and in-kind donations through the program, as well as increased participation in sponsorship programs and greater awareness of their mission.
