Our Event Beneficiary is the Gwinnett Humane Society.

We strive to prevent cruelty to animals and reduce pet overpopulation by educating the public regarding humane treatment of animals, promoting responsible pet ownership, and encouraging spaying/neutering of companion animals. GHS is a volunteer supported, 501c3 non-profit organization supported entirely by private donations. We receive no government funds and rely solely on donations and volunteers who donate their time and energy to improve the lives of pets and animals in our local community through Education, Support, Resource referral, and Adoption services. We strive to promote animal welfare, to prevent cruelty to animals, and to reduce pet overpopulation by:

• Educating the public regarding the humane treatment of animals and responsible pet ownership
• Encouraging the spaying and neutering of companion animals
• Encouraging adoption of companion animals
• Gwinnett Humane Society does not operate a shelter and receives no government funding; we rely solely on donations from individuals and companies to support our programs and on volunteers who donate their time and energy to carry out our mission.

For your dog’s safety, and to make this event enjoyable for all, participants must abide by the rules listed below. We encourage the participation of dogs that are accustomed to regular exercise and are well adjusted to crowds and noisy environments with large numbers of people and other dogs.

Dog must be current on all shots and rabies vaccination.
Dog must wear an ID Tag.
No dogs in heat and no aggressive dogs.
Dog must be leashed (6ft. max length) & in control. No retractable leashes please.
You must pick up after your dog. 
Children must be at least 13 years old to participate with a dog without adult supervision.

It is the owners responsibility to ensure their dog is fit and healthy before racing. If in doubt consult your vet.

The 5K will start and finish next to Sugar Hill City Hall.  The course is an out & back from City Hall to PIB, and then head South.   This is an AJC PTRR Certified Course.

We will have awards as follows:

Top 3 overall M/F
Top 3 Overall Masters M/F
Overall Grand Master (50 yrs +)
Overall Sr. Grand Master (60 yrs +)
Top 3 in each of the normal 5 year age groups 10 & Under through 75+.

Rushing Trading Company will provide all runners with a FREE beverage after running their tails off!  Racers 21+ have the option of one of their craft beers (ID is required).  Plus, they will have hot chocolate (or iced coffee/tea if it's a warmer day) for younger runners or those who prefer a non-alcoholic beverage. Racers just need to bring their race bib to Rushing Trading Company's booth on the Promenade for their free beverage. They will also have breakfast menu items for purchase inside or at their outside table service after the race too.

We'll also award our three Fastest Dogs!

The Virtual Race Is For You!

Here's how it works:

1. Register for the Virtual division & Start Training
2. The day before the race you'll receive instructions & a link to submit your race time
3. Submit your race time by end of race day
4. The Monday after the race, results (Virtual Runner division) will be posted online
5. Monday after the race you'll receive an email with a link to the results & any pictures.
6. Monday after the race we'll package up all the T-shirts & medals and put them in the mail.

All participants will automatically qualify for FREE entry into one of our 2020 Five Star Thanksgiving Turkey Trots. 

Top finishers will also have the opportunity to earn a spot in the  Championships to be held on Jan 2021. The number of spots available  is based on the total registration...see event website for details.

Our events are designed to be fun and for the entire family. With that in mind, any competitor, spectator, parent, volunteer, or sponsor,  exhibiting unsportsmanlike conduct or interfering with the positive,  competitive atmosphere of the event will be asked to leave the venue and course immediately with no refunds.  

All registrations are final...We're sorry, but there are no refunds, transfers, or deferments.
