Join us to honor and celebrate the life of Mark Hummeldorf

About Mark:
Mark Edward Hummeldorf was killed in a tragic car accident on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at the age of 33. He was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 19 and served with honor for 4 years. After deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in June of 2004, he participated in Operation Al Fajr in November 2004 in Fallujah, Iraq earning a purple heart. In September 2005, he participated in the humanitarian operations in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, and during the 2006 Lebanon War, he assisted with noncombatant evacuation operations abroad the USS Whidbey.

After discharge, Mark transitioned to public service as a firefighter. He served at SSFD, Savannah Fire Rescue 1, becoming a Firefighter/Paramedic, and most recently, with Parris Island Fire and Rescue.

Mark loved life and lived it to the fullest. It was his nature to put others first and the true essence of his character was on full display when helping others in need. His contagious smile and laughter often elevated the mood of those around him. Whether it was a kind word, a helping hand, or a self-depreciating joke, Mark possessed a natural ability to put others at ease, finding levity and humor in almost any situation he encountered. He enjoyed his tow dogs, Beowulf and Corporal. He loved his family, his friends, his marines, his Firefighters/Paramedics, His CrossFit family, and his country. Most of all he loved and worshipped the love of his life, Angie, and their children, Chase and Emerson.

Mark’s friends and family are excited to celebrate his life on Nov. 17, 2018, at #HonorMark 5k. Please join us to honor this wonderful friend, brother, father, husband & hero.
