Rockford, IL Gold Star Mother, Angie White will say a few words prior to the race awards (see below on times). Angie White's son Sgt Kenneth L. White, was a Rockford native, was twice decorated for bravery in action with the 25th Infantry Division. Sgt White received two Bronze Stars. He also received the Purple Heart. He was killed in action in Vietnam, on May 01, 1969.
At 1000 A.M. - A short ceremony remembering our fallen prior to the 3k and 5k awards ceremony will take place to honor our fallen military heroes and honor all Gold Star Families.
At 1100 A.M. - A short ceremony remembering our fallen prior to the 1/2 marathon awards ceremony will take place to honor our fallen military heroes and honor all Gold Star Families.
All paid participants (parents of youth runners included), volunteers, and Gold Star Families can relax before and after the event inside Carlson Hall. Multiple vendors from various veteran organizations, a mobile memorial wall of Illinois Fallen Military Heroes, Gold Star Mission information on the Gold Star 500 and General John A. Logan 200 will be present in Carlson Hall.
